hm, since this is a thread about SC DS One...

q: when you put it in and turn on an unflashed NDS lite, can you see the Supercard DS One from the Nintendo Menu, or will it boot directly into the Supercard like an M3 Simply? also is the compatibility the same now? :) ... heh

i read that M3 Simply has some problems on Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam - is this the same for Supercard DS One?

Oh and, does it have Springloaded MicroSD like the M3 Simply?

Hi

Consider the fact that the r4 would be even cheeper if the card reader wasn't included.

I'm sorry, but I think the scdsone is better. I trust the supercard team. I don't trust the R4 company or the m3 team. The m3 team tells lies, I'll never trust them. My trust in the R4 may change after they've been around longer, but they are to new right now.

But we can count on romman now and forever. I'm convinced that he will NEVER stop realising updates for a card, with the exception of the nds

1. dying, no one is playing nds games anymore. Will happen eventually
2. There is already every feature we could want on that card or that that is possible on that card.

THAT'S why I'll say the scdsone is the best choice.

Yes, the scdsone is spring loaded. It has fantastic rom capibility, and not perfect but better-than-most download play. The card boots directly.

I think the best way to find out more is to read the gbatemp revew. They say all of this. It's a good, fair revew covering near every possible aspect.

wait.. so the SC DS ONE can play unpatched roms JUST like the M3 Simply and the R4? why patch it then? - to get a better compatibility?

anyways, quoting from gba temp

QuoteNote At the time I’m writing this review, I’ve noticed that enabling “super mode” is nothing but asking for trouble as some games will crash or would stop loading & won’t let you get past the rom’s splash screen (as you can see from the picture below). Therefore I strongly advise you, not to turn it on for now until SuperCard Team fixes it.

is it still true?

also, reading their review, it seems that only the Kingston (Toshiba) Japan microSD are the best and would be... mandatory for the SC DS One

I never patch ANY of my roms. I just trim then and  throw them on the card and they work great. As far as super mode goes, I haven't even tried it yet. But I do know that the Kingston JPN are great. I got a 512MB and it kicks ass. The speed auto set to 30. I was using a regular old Sandisk before and it speed would only set to 5. The difference is dramatic in games like Animal Crossing and Castlevania PoR.

So is it good or bad compair to R4?
Because I have to decide this and get one of them next week.

In my opinion, good.

I have a 2gb sandisk microsd, and it works FANTASTICLY. However, I don't play Teen rated games, hence don't play Castlevinia POR. But everyother game I've played, which is a lot of games, works perfectly. According to gbatemp, you only need a Kingston JPN to play castlevia POR.

For me, every game I've played, which includes animal crossing, works fine. You don't need to have a japanise kingston, it's just what is best. I personally would reccomend my 2gb sandisk, simply because it's another card a can confirm works good. (would reccomend it under a japanise kingston of course.)

A lot of Teen games are really good, a game doesn't have to be filled with gore and violence to be a good game. (It does help though)
Maybe you could try some of the less violent games?

Maybe, but I won't know which games are violent and which aren't.

Violents upsets me. If a game is too violent, I don't enjoy it. Rayman DS is an example of this, and it's rated E!

what I don't get is people keep complaining about having to enter the .sav size for new games that come out, on the SCDS.  I would rather enter in the .sav size "for newer roms" then have every rom take up 512kb of space on my 2G micro sd card.  Do people even realize that you don't have to play around and change the save size with M3/R4 because they use the biggest .sav size for every game even if the game's "don't know the smallest nds rom .sav size is" .sav size is the smallest .sav size possible.  That is a 1/2 mb per rom.  50 roms = 25mb of .savs when using the M3/R4.

This here is what we need to spread around the web, the TRUTH!!!  8)  8)

liquidnitrogen

hm. so according to your information...

QuoteI would rather enter in the .sav size "for newer roms" then have every rom take up 512kb of space on my 2G micro sd card.

the Supercard DS will take up Less space for Saves? and will have various sizes instead of just 512kB?

dOoBiX

yea, the supercard ds has different sizes of save files for the games. the save files on the r4/m3 are all 512kb.

arange

all my supercard saves (from my SCSD, SCMini, SD Lite and SC one) are 256Kb no matter what the game.. so it might not be saving different file sizes (though it may be compressed in some way that any game will save in 256 kb

it still takes up half the space as the R4 i guess

btw it shows that the largest saver size is 4M <- probably then it would be refering to kilobits and megabits since a 4 meg save sounds a bit big (and 4mbit = 512kb) hence probably why R4 uses 512 saver size to accomodate the largest save and supercard uses 256 (if it's in some compressed format <- just my speculation)
rystal white NDSL
DSONE ver.2 + SCL
Kingston Jp 1gb + ATP 1gb

liquidnitrogen

hm, i dont think supercard saves are compressed at all...

perhaps the R4 save is made like that for future games requiring an even larger save size
