Is there a N64 emulator for the DS?

Dammit Jim, when do we get a PS3 emulator for the DS?  It's been almost a ****ing month now.

Hi

I don't want a ps3 emu. I don't want a ps3. You couldn't pay me to get one.

Well... that's not quite true. If anyones willing to pay me, well than I'll take the money.  Let me put it this way, I wouldn't buy a ps3 if it was free.

But I've actually been serious about an n64 emu. I STILL say it's possible, just haven't thought of a way yet.

By the way, I didn't mean to replace the processer, I ment to add one. If you just had an additional processer, and still kept the old ones, wouldn't normal games work?

Maybe when I'm done with the GBA version I can port it to the DS but NO promises.

o comon your not done with getting DX10 to work on a super nintendo what do I not pay you to do!

Shaddup. :( OK! So maybe it'll run at 3 fps but it's friggin possible right?!

Change 3 to 0.3 and don't factor in the fact that no one will want to waste their time on something that will never come to fruition, then... yeah, it's possible
Setup: Onyx DS Lite, CycloDS + Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC; Camo GBA Micro, EZIV + Kingston 2GB MicroSD

That's my point! Well, My OTHER point is that I bet there is some mod that would make it work but even it it isn't... well... I agree with gleasonator.

Except for the fact that gleasonator said shutup on a fourm where the whole point is to TALK...

But I also think that homebrew developers do enouph, and, as I said, I don't think it's my place to ask for more.

Besides, we SHOULD get super nintendo working first. Not to mention gbc and gb. (slot-1 users can't use goomba.)

But It could be done, and if was done, I'd be happy with it. That's all I have to say in the matter. I don't care if it runs at 0.3 or 3 or whatever. I care that it works.

If I just had a perfect, full-speed Slot-1-compatible GB/GBC emulator that did sound and stretched (with possible filters), I'd be set completely. I just want to have all (the best) Nintendo portable games on my DS at once

best feasible solutions found in this thread:
1. Play it on the PC and forget about it
2. Wait for the New handheld to come out and start hoping then
3. Make one yourself that might play at a 0.3 FPS and show off
4. Wait a REALLY long time for someone to make a proof of concept 0.3 emulator
5. Hardware mod (possible yet feasible?)
6. Get a Palm and look really hard on google for a N64 emulator for your PDA

You can't just add a processor <_< There is no room on the board. It's not designed to be upgradable. You would need a completely new DS main board designed to fit inside of a DS and use another processor and you'd have to make sure that processor didn't run too hot and that there was still room for all the original component and you'd STILL be too short on RAM. Take also into consideration the following:

The N64 had more buttons then the DS has
The N64 has a very different resolution than the DS and wouldn't fit without massive downscaling (320x240 versus 256x192x2)
The best N64 games were action orientated, and thus would need to be recreated at a reasonable speed.

As for .3 fps... I think that's still being TOO generous. We're not talking emulating a system that's weaker then the DS, but a system that actually has a HIGHER clock rate. We aren't talking fps, but rather spf. N64 games ran at the NTSC refresh rate of 60fps. If the DS takes 3 seconds to render a single frame, that would be 180x slower than a real N64.

A hardware mod to make N64 run on DS is completely infeasible ASIDE from finding a way to hook an entire N64 through the DS expansion slot... Good luck powering it and keeping it portable if you try ^_^

In conclusion: It is 100% completely POSSIBLE to emulate the N64 on the DS, but there is no way EVER emulate the system even close to playably. It can't happen, it won't happen... Not with the DS.

Quote from: "sonicwind"O YEA!!!! lets go buy a quad core and put it in the ds.  Then put in some nice ram to o'c it. O wait........ then its a computer.  Didn't i state this earlier? it is NOT going to happen. Nothing you say about adding ram through the 2nd or first slot is going to change that.  As of right now the PSP has a hard time emulating the N64.  If the PSP has way more power then how can the ds possibly emulate it?

Maybe we should overclock it. XD

Wow. That is one insane dude. What does that even give you? It's not like you can really go for a higher frame rate on DS games...

Gleason: 66 x 1.7 = 112.2
33 x 1.7 = 56.1

168.3mhz would still be no where NEAR sufficient for emulation of the N64... Not happening, won't happen. Period.

What if I wrote an emu (obviously an extreemly slow one) just to prove you wrong? WHAT THEN???

Joke. I don't even know C. But I WILL in a few years.
