The Friend Code Exchange system on DualScreenRadio.com

If this pisses off the mods or anything, my apologies in advance.

At Dual Screen Radio, we've come up with a pretty decent method of handling friend codes for DS and Wii.  It is a "two way" system, which allows for quick recognition of whose added you, and who you have added.

Far better than the standard "Post Number", "Send PM", then "Send PM Back" method.  Our tool allows you to see EXACTLY who you have added, who has added you - AND, which users you have a completed friend code transaction with.

Take a look at the interface:

Those without color are users you have not yet interacted with.

Those that are checked (shown in yellow) are people you have added to your Wii, but have not yet added you to theirs.

Those that are red in color, represent people that have added you to their Wii's, but you have not added them.

Finally, in green, shows people that you have added that have also added you.

Every Wifi enabled game in the DS library (and soon the Wii library - as required) has a screen like this that you can easily bookmark and find more friends anytime.

So far, this has been the most efficient way we've found to let our users hook up.

Hope someone finds this useful.

This is a fantastic web app that you've developed.  The only problem I've got is that I registered around 100 friend codes for MPH and MKDS and only one person has added me.   :(

So here's a feature request.  Have users input their GSPID numbers so that the dualscreenradio database can track how active users are in their respective games.  Why register someone's friendcode if they never play?

Also, is there any method of notifying users when someone has registered their code?  People may not think to go back and check their My DSR page for friend code updates.

Lastly, have you ever considered having an IRC channel?  An IRC channel with persistent idling may help to organize WFC games.  I'm not big on browser based chat because people log off the moment they close their browser.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the GSPID number is ... This has something to do with linking them to the Nintendo online website right?  Give me a little more info, and I'd be happy to add this.

Currently, there is no way to notify people - however, future expansion will allow a note to be sent to the user upon adding them (I have to finesse it so that it is not possible for some clever ass to mail flood our visitors - this is why it wasn't built into the initial app).

Some of the lists are getting long - I'll also need a way of keeping them from getting unwieldy - probably by letting you filter by the various states, maybe collapsing on the first letter of the user name - that sort of thing.

We DID have an IRC channel - unfortunately, it got about as much traffic as our FlashChat does - next to nothing. :(  Plus, a lot of people that wanted to visit wanted to do so during working hours from work, and IRC ports are almost universally blocked at the corporate level - FlashChat can be reached by anyone :)

What's cool about FlashChat too is that you can right click on someone's name in the channel and retrieve their WFC codes right from there.  It's pretty cool - just underused. :)

Forget what I said about the GSPID - looks like it's only used for tracking stats on Metroid Prime Hunters, so it wouldn't be useful for this.   :?
