Once in a while, perhaps after charging my ds, I would turn on my ds lite with superpass/supercardlite and it would boot to the nintendo menu instead of the supercard menu. The menu would show only the gba slot being occupied. Once that has happened, in order for me to boot straight to the supercard menu, i would need to turn off the ds, popout the superpass, popin the superpass, and turn on the ds.

Does this happen to anyone else?

It happens very rarely with lots of homebrew slot-1 devices. It's happened I think once with my R4, and is really simple to alleviate.

That's happened to me with my sccf, superkey and original ds about 6 or 7 times.
