Well, they do exist The most popular was the PS-X-Change, here are the details from a review:

Works on ALL PlayStation models, including the PSOne (won't work on PS2)
Simple installation - just put the CD in and follow instructions
Allows you to play backups, copies and imports of your favorite PlayStation games
No more internal soldering / installations
Also functions as a GameShark and allows you to input cheat codes

There's a few other types as well. Any would do me just fine.
