Questions about OneSlot

So my Supercard mini-sd got bricked. The card whigged out, then I tried to update the firmware, and now it cain't do anything. So now i'm looking for a replacement.

I'm a fan of Supercards but the DS One seems to not be in stock ANYWHERE. So i'm thinking about purchasing an R4 because it seems high rated.

Few questions:
Are there any issues with the R4 I should know of?
Are one slot cards capable of playing GBA games?
Would the R4 be able to use my old savegames from my Supercard?

Thankyou.

vitius

I don't know of any major issues with the R4. I have heard that the touch screen doesn't work for some homebrews for the M3 and R4. Don't know if that's still true.

No current slot-1 card can play GBA games. I heard that it's not possible but I'm not sure about that.

R4 does not work with supercards saves however the main site provides a save converter that u can use to convert the saves to R4 format.

Hope that helps.

You could try talking to Bitblt who offers free Supercard recovery services.

But vitius is right about the GBA thing - slot-1 cannot be accessed the same way slot-2 is, so there is no way to run GBA binaries from slot-1.  In the future, it might be possible to copy the GBA binary over to a RAM pack in slot-2, which would then run the game, but this is still speculation at this point.

Thanx very much.

Question: I've heard about these Supercard recovery services, how much do they usually cost? And how do I contact bitblt? (Do I just send him a message on these boards?) I'd be willing to do that, but i'm wondering if I should just get a One-slot card since it'll probably not much extra $ to get it done.

See http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2648 for details.  He does it for free aside from the shipping costs, and I would just send him a message.

I can't really recommend either for or against a slot-1 card, as I don't have one myself, sorry.

Hi

order the scdsone from supercardstore. They might not have it in stock right at this moment, but they seem to get shipments quite often. If you order it when it's out of stock, they'll send one to you when it comes in stock which, as I said, seems to be quite often.

I wonder why the scdsone is out of stock everywhere. Is romman STILL having trouble making them quickly. One would think he'd have enouph by now...

Thanx for the link sinkhead. Very nice review. R4 seems very appealing now.

Has anyone done a comparision of the SuperCard  DSone vs the R4? I heard the DSone has issues with memory card speeds.  Both seem same price.

Waiting for a response on the Supercard repair service. These one-slots seem very nice.
