Hi

I can understand companies protecting there consols against piricy, but if I were nintendo I'd be HELPING homebrew developers. There like volenteer game makers! Free employies! For example if I adversised that the nds could play FREE GAMES (homebrew games) I think a lot more people would buy the nds. And nintendo would't have to pay a single penny. They'd just have to sit back and watch, maybe giving the homebrewers a tip or two here and there.

Hey... maybe darkfader is really nintendo trying to help the homebrew community without people knowing it...

Grr... I always knew nintendo was responsible for bricking peoples NDS's.

they are kind of doing that with the wii (helping homebrew developers, I mean)...  they are accepting submissions of original games to be released on virtual console.

Hi, the problem with that is that the devices used to boot homebrew can also be used to boot pirated games, so it's not something Nintendo would want to endorse.  The only possible exception would be the GBA Movie Player CF, which became readily accepted by the homebrew community and could only boot DS homebrew.  However, later a patcher program was released that let a few commercial games run from it.

They need (and may do) what Microsoft is doing by released a dev kit for homebrew developers to program their homebrew games for.

Well if it is a  12C508 pic chip, its is $4.00 at Didya.

PharaohsVizier

How exactly did people come to the conclusion that it is a 12C508?  Is it just because it has 8 pins?  Or am I missing something?

onekelly

it was stated on gbatemp.net thread. I don't know either way but thought i would pass it on.

reading thru some of these posts had me laughing.. its like so many that act like they have never seen something like this.. first off.. that is a 12c508/9 PIC.. i used to program the fuck out of those for psx/psOne/ps2.. where have most of you been?  dont you guys rem REI?  its simple to dump a PIC..  it will be small hex.. the days before everyone got smart and started making their OWN pcb boards with chips on there so people couldnt just program their own.. anyone rem 44 wire neo4?? lol  either way.. i just hope this its true.. i will have to go thru storage and find my old PIC programmer and load win98/dos machine to run the old software i got for it lol.. either way.. i hope its true.. good work :)

only thing i dont like about the video is wtf you gotta go handheld.. you dont have any friends??? it should be filmed stationary with tripod.. showing the wires and everything.. i hate when these videos first come out.. i knew it wasnt going to be long with all the wii dumps.

Okay after 10 minutes research I've figured one thing out. The Wiinja isn't really a mod chip at all. That's not to say that it won't work. Look at this picture:

See that so called chip. Well all it is is a 12c508 IC. Not really a chip at all but an IC.

Now I seriously doubt that the Wii's security could be defeated by an intigrated circuit. This is the same IC used with the Playstation. So unless Nintendo has went back with their security by about 13 years, I say Bullshit.

Plus if it is real, thirtynine Euro's for a one Euro chip. You must be joking

Well if it is a 12c508, i just found my mothballed advin systems pilot programmer that i used on my coin-op table style centipede game. And it can program that pic chip. Just gotta remember where i put the software for it  .

Yeah bro, like i thought you wouldn't be able to tell it was from maxconsole from the picture   . (since i removed the banners from it and didn't give credit below it.)

I believe onekelly had enough "common decency" since the pic has a giant maxconsole.net logo on it.  Please have enough common decency to play nice. :)

No they have only commented once so I don't expect them to release anything any time soon.
