ToysRus and Batteries

Hi

Well, I'm at toyrus with my sister buying my sister a present. My babysitter is in the car waiting for us.

Anyway, we find what we want (a $30 roll-up piano that turned out to be a piece of junk that I'm going to return tomarrow) and go the checkout line. While at the checkout line, I notice a sign that says "If you casier does not ask you to perchase batteries, you'll get  a free $5 ToysRus gift card"

So, guess what. Does the casier ask me if I want to buy batteries? NO! Had she asked me if I wanted to buy batteries I would say no I don't want to buy batteries, but the fact is that she didn't even ASK me and that means that I'm supposed to get a $5 giftcard right???

Well, I say "You didn't ask me if I wanted to buy batteries. Do I get a gift card." while pointing at the sign. She looks at me with this look that says "What are you talking about you crazy kid" and tells me. "That deal is only valid if what you are buying requires batteries."

I was unhappy. Obviously a roll-up piano needs batteries but it made sense that the batteries would be included. So I was stupid enouph to believe the casier. Of corse, the look that she was giving me didn't help.

Anyway, I go to the car. We are about to drive away when I look at the box of the piano and see that it says "Requires 3 AA batteries not included." So I tell my babysitter that I just got cheated. She goes back into ToysRus with me so that we can get my giftcard.

We go to costomer servace. They give me my giftcard after five minutes of talking with different people. They also tell us that we were the first people to ever get a giftcard in the way we did

So, it just goes to show you, watch it! You shouldn't always believe what people tell you and you should always make sure that you read what's around you. I learned something new today and now you did to.  :)

Customer service and manners in general have taken a real nosedive in recent years.  People are so apathetic and unwilling to help you and/or make good on their promises.

I agree.  It's to be expected when everything is relative, and there's no absolute right and wrong, and everyone thinks it's ok to do whatever seems right to them.
