No, he's not saying to play on wii without a modchip, he was saying to play them WITH a modchip. If you don't burn them that way, they won't boot at all even with a modchip.

You need to have a modchip! Sorry if I wasn't clear. It's just that I had this problem yesterday with my mac and I thought it can save time to people that try to burn their wii iso
