Problems with some DS/GBA roms

I'm having a problem recently with some recent roms for both the DS and GBA.  I pull things off usenet, and run them through the patcher (1.7) and a lot of the more recent stuff tends to not work.  GBA stuff goes to a white screen and sometimes static, while DS stuff goes to a white screen.

It's not everything, but it's enough to make me wonder what I'm doing wrong.

I've just upgraded to 1.8 software with the patch, hopefully some of that will help things out.

Any other ideas?

Known to not work previously:

FF5, FF6, Izuna, Meteos Disney Magic, Lost in Blue 2, Puzzle Quest, Phoenix Wright: Justice for All, and others.

Are you getting FIRMWARE with PATCHERS confused ?!

latest firmware for supercard is 1.7

the latest patcher for supercard is 2.58

you also need the latest .dat file from the downloads section too  :)

can you also give more information to what SUPERCARD (slot 1/slot 2) you own and what DS you are using it on LITE or PHAT :)

Shinino

I have a DS Lite, and Have SC Micro.  And yeah, I got the versions confused.  I've got the latest patcher.  When you're talking about the latest .dat, aren't you meaning the one on the home page?  Or did I miss one?

check the downloads section and the supercard.tk link and get the latest dat file from there  :)

also for tips on what settings to use when patching check the COMPATIBILITY section of the forum  :)

If you're talking about the ndsrominfo.dat, I got that already from supercard.cn or wherever.

I'll look in the compatability section tho

Basically you have to make sure you have all three things up to date:

SuperCard Firmware (which is at 1.7)
SuperCard Software (which is at 2.58 )
SuperCard Dat-File-Thing-That-No-One-Knows-What-To-Call-Other-Than-Dat-File (no version, just get from here every now-and-then)

Other than that, you may want to try reinstalling your SuperCard software (on your PC).  I had a problem similar to yours and updated everything...but still had the problem.  I uninstalled the software, did a reinstall, placed the new dat file in there, and everything worked fine.  Same with your firmware.  You can reinstall the same version of firmware the same way you would install a new version.  Doing that helped a friend of mine who also had similar symptoms.
