Wow this is a good idea...  Using the PC to process it can result in a browser that can run off of little ram and maybe even run flash!!

Hi

I wonder if they could let this also view the contents of ones computer and run ones programes. (remember, this is diffren't from dsftp because you can run it from anywhere.)

Anyone want to host a server? :)
I hope he will port  it to OSX or linux
Onyx DS with R4 and SC lite, 2x1g kingston
Ice blue DS with R4
Gray phat DS with SCSD and 512M

Hi

I can't host a server as I don't have enouph bandwidth, but that's a nice Idea. For one thing, if the server was built into the homebrew app, no one would have to remember long IP adresses. On the other hand, I wonder if it could turn into a security issue...

I'd like to see more stuff like this, really. I mean, dsftp isn't great because of the lack of speed in the connection. But if one made a homebrew app that used the PC for extra resorces, (or, better, a set-up homebrew server, which can't cost more than things like hosting a homebrew site on the internet) and made games or apps that were made for the nds, think of the possiblities.

For example, although I dobt n64 is possible due to the fact that the pc would have to do just about all the work and leave a lag, what about snes emulation with special chips? (for kirby superstar, yeah!) Both the nds and pc would work together, and as long as the nds was doing it's fair share of work, little enouph communication would have to be done for there to be no lag.

And, while it would not be totally portable, it would be as portable as nintendo wifi, which isn't bad.

Below is a RAM build (Supercard Slot 2 SD/CF) of DSLinux with the graphical version of links by GPF included.  Hopefully this should make it's way into the official release on kineox, but for now, here you go:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/628b02 DSLinux RAM with GPF's Graphical Links
For those unfamiliar with how to use DSLinux, please refer to the wiki:
http://www.dslinux.org/wiki/Running_DSLinux

Recommended startup options:
links -g -dither-images 1 -display-optimize 1 -html-image-scale 90 -menu-font-size 8 -aspect-on 1 -dither-letters 1 -html-user-font-size 8

It's very beta so it'll look a bit wierd, but hey, it's real, it works (sort of) and it's free!

On PCs you can do that, it's called Parallel Virtual Machine, but i don't think its doable on a ds, i don't think the wi-fi is fast enough to do that, i don't know how much traffic it would make, but i don't think it's less than a vnc, and dsvnc isn't fast enough for games.

Looks interesting, maybe i'll try it later. Shame you have to write such a long command to start it.

And btw:

In your face Gnirfleo!

Yeah, I've been having issues getting normal text to render correctly (if at all) in the graphical Links, but hey, at least it works.

Hi

So we now have three web browsers, and while none of them are perfect, each has there up-sides and down sides.

1. Opera Browser
      A. In order to use the browser, one must ether pay $$ or break the law.
      B. One needs extra ram to use the browser
      C. Is the most high-quality browser available, with very few bugs. It can display graphics perfectly

2. DSorganise
      A. Is a text only web browser
      B. Requires nothing but an nds and a simple way of running homebrew- is a stand alone web browser
      C. Is free- even for people who don't want to break the law.
      D. For now, still has many bugs

3. DSHobro
      A. Can display graphics
      B. Is free- even for people not wanting to break the law
      C. Needs a computer running a special program to work
      D. For now, still has many bugs

Not a bad outline if I do say so myself :D Anyway, as I said, we now have three web browsers available, each with there upsides and downsides. This leaves people with plenty of choice to which one they want to use. Personally, I'd go for opera, but that's just me.

You forgot the two in DSLinux called Retawq and Links.  A recent build of Links contains graphical capability, but it requires RAM in slot-2 and is fairly buggy.  The text-only version works very well though, and Retawq is very fast at rendering pages.
