Getting on my nerves with VBA and SCminiSD

  :x  :(

Now that the fury is gone, I'll explain my problem.
I have a custom save game for Pokémon Emerald (U) with pokémon created with Ciro's Pokémon Maker. To make this program work, I had to load a ROM of this game into Visual Boy Advance, because I do not have AR or GS to use with my retail cart of Emerald. Anyway, I created all the pokémons I wanted (and I fell like freaking God himself), saved the game and all worked perfectly. I erased that game from my miniSD card a while ago, and now I've decided to start playing Emerald once again, but I unluckily sold my cart to get a new miniSD... T-T

So, I (think I) did all the stuff I've done before, when I got VBA's save file working in my SC, but now it seems I'm cursed by some SC-hating ROM God that doesn't allow me to make this work out correctly.
Let's see what I do:

1. I start VBA, load up my Emerald ROM and import my old save game.

2. The game restarts, loads my imported saved game correctly. I save the game normally, with Automatic/64KB output options.

3. I start up CS's patcher, go to ROM options, set the importing save game (my previously saved game from VBA), and then output the ROM.

4. Send it to my miniSD, boot it up... and BLAH! No saved game at all. Zero. Nada.

There are a few things I've noticed, though:

a. VBA seems to save always in 128KB format, even if I tell it to save in 64KB. I read that I can "cut" this file to half and use it as a normal SC generated .sav, but I dunno how.

b. A user here, Johnny IIRC, pointed out that VBA creates a ".sa1" file I need to rename to .sav in order to use it with SC. My VBA doesn't create anything but the normal .sav when I save in-game. Can somebody enlight me up in this field?

I lost the tutorial I used months ago, the one that made this worked flawlessly and easily. Does somebody here know where could I have gotten it, or can give me a step-by-step guide on how to? I really welcome any help you might give me, this is driving me nuts... mostly because I already made it work before

Hi!

I have a Mini-SD Card and had no problems with getting my created pokemon to the SD.

Like you, I started the VBA with the Pokemon ROM, got the pokemon and saved the game.
My version of VBA creates a .sav file, which can just be copied to the SD-Card and can be loaded without problems. (well, ok, there is still the problem with RTC, but that doesn't count   )

Maybe your problem belongs to your version of VBA

Try to get a new one, load your old save and just save the game. You should get a .sav file.

At least thats how it worked for me

Good Luck

I think you can change the save size by going to Options > Emulator > Save Type.  And .sa1 save files are only for VBA link I think.  It's just a modified version of VBA but lets you open several instances and link them together for multiplayer.

I'll try again ^^ I gave up some time ago, but I'll try again, changing my VBA version (I have the latest one) and directly copying my .sav to my SC ^^
