ok got everything here and ready to go.  but got a question about adding the firmware to the microsd card.  First I know that I must format the card to fat16.  but after that do I just unzip the "micro_eng_170.rar" file from the supercard site and move it onto the card or do I have to patch it somehow?

after that I think i get how to put the games on now.

You do not need to patch the updater. Just put it in the root of the card. Other than that you can really just patch ROMs and copy them. Some people recommend formatting first but I've never had to. You might also want to make some folders. "DS Apps" "DS Games" "GBA games" and so forth. The Supercard doesn't care but it might help you.
