How do you work emos on Beup Live 0.3e?

How do you work emos on Beup Live 0.3e?  There is the Emotion icon with the arrow beside it, but when i tap it with the sylus, nothing happens.

did u dldi patch beup and put the directories onto ur card?

i've got the same problem.  everything else seems to work, just not the emoticons.
