Mario Kart DS - play beta/hidden tracks on WFC, SC IPS patch

Hi, i'm new here.

Was wondering how i can enable the extra tracks (tick tock clock, airship fortress etc) for play on WFC. I have looked around & have found 2 IPS patchs for a clean rom dump of MKDS which are approx 746bytes & 792bytes zipped.

Read about here:

I'm not sure if these are specifically for SC or other flash carts or universal......can anyone confirm?

Can I just patch the rom & copy it to my sd card or do I have to run it through the SC software for patching again before copying it to SD?

I have also read an old post on one of the above links that states a copy of the real cart & old superpass/passme2 is needed, but that post was from 1-2yrs ago......is it still required these days or is it as simple as running the patched rom?

I have a SC MiniSD + Superkey if that helps.

Any help is much appreciated!

I haven't done this myself, so I'm not fully up-to-date on the details, but if I remember correctly, it was originally a mod that would only run if you had the original cartridge in the DS system, but then it was later modified to work on a patched rom.

I don't know exactly how to get it working, though I'm sure the Supercard patcher will be needed in some way.  I'd suggest just trying it yourself a few times.  Try applying the IPS patch then running it through the Supercard patcher, and if that fails then try it the other way around.  Then try the other IPS patch before and after the Supercard patcher.

Yes thats correct patch the rom first using LUNAR IPS PATCHER then use the supercard patcher :)

I used rom the MK EU 0201 rom  :)

with the Hx0rMKDS ips patch  :)

You can also use proyectomk.exe and drag teh rom into that and patch it...

Does anyone know if this can be used on any other slot 2 carts? Like the G6 maybe?

I've been wanting to use all the other tracks also, when I race with friends. So this will come in really handy.

EDIT: Nevermind. In the one of those links it mentions it's been confirmed to be used with the G6/M3, along with the Supercard.

This is sweet. Thanks for posting ndsfan.

EDIT AGAIN. One more question: It says you do need the original game. So what exactly does this mean? I have the original game, but it means you must have it inserted into the DS? My DS isn't flashed, so I won't be able to access the G6 without my passcard, or any of my slot 1's in it.

That kind of sucks if it's true.

Once the DS has been booted, the NoPass is no longer needed, so you can just load the G6, eject the NoPass, insert MKDS, and start whatever DS binary you need to start.

I got it working on the R4. But thanks for the advice.

Just patch the .nds file with the .ips file, and put it on your cart. Pretty cool.

Forgot to ask:

What tracks do each of the different IPS patches unlock?
Do they all unlock the exact same ones or do they vary?

Cuz there are only 20 track slots available for 20 out of 32 tracks to be playable so some other less good ones had to be replaced (ie through hex editor).

Would be great if someone could provide track lists for each of the patches?

Thanks once again.

I didn't know there was two patches. I just used the one in the third link. There is still a couple tracks missing though.

I'll look for the other patch you're talking about, and throw it on the rom and see if it unlocks the others. But the one patch I used gave me quite a few more tracks. Over ten I believe.
