error message in SC SD patching software

I am using what I believe to be the newest version of the Supercard SD software, 2.541, and it usually works perfectly, but when I tried it with the Chocobo Tales rom, it popped up with a message something akin to this:

Access violation at address 005BAF5E in module 'SuperCardsd.exe', Read of address FE9FF838

Due to the look of the error message and the "in module 'SuperCardsd.exe'" I think that this error is from windows, and not from the software. This message only pops up from the Chocobo tales rom (there maybe others of which I am not aware).

Somewhat off topic, the SC SD software clears the pokemon dia/pearl, but i just get the infamous white screens.

Any advice?
Thank you

Try to re-install the Supercard patcher software.  All Pokemon games will work with SCSD.  With Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, make sure you enable "Patch Cartridge Access" Compatibility: High in the Supercard patcher options.

Missed that.  Yes, and upgrade to the latest SCSD v1.7 firmware chartreusesnot.

I get the same error message with 2.58. I recieved my SC SD last week, do I still need to upgrade the firmware? Does V1.7 come as a factory deafult?
I notice on the compatibility list that you linked to, that it had the options on the side, when I look at the options tab in the patching software, I cannot see some of them such as "trim", and "faster gameplay"... could that affect something?

Verify the Chocobo ROM is clean using Offline List or something.  Yes you need to upgrade the firmware to v1.7. No, firmware v1.7 is not always the factory default.  Start your DS in GBA mode and hold L+R to see what version firmware is on your SCSD.
