Im at the end of Zelda: TP fixing to fight puppet Zelda and then Ganon. Now I love the hell out this game (think it's the best game ever made, ect) but why did they have to make Ganon the bad guy AGAIN? Zant is suuuuuch a bad ass character and would have been a perfect bad guy to end the game on. He was designed well and his story was bad ass, there was no need to make him Ganons bitch boy and end the game with Link fighting Ganon AGAIN.

DeVS: Did you watch the entire ending? Specifically did you notice that it wasn't Link that killed Ganon but rather Zant (hence the flash to Zant and suddenly Ganon's neck breaking). If that doesn't sound like a setup for a sequel at some point, I'm not sure what would.

My big complaint was saving zelda at the end. You suddenly have this big huge earth shattering change to the zelda universe with Zelda sacrificing herself... only to find out she was perfectly fine and needed rescuing.

I think the flash to Zant represented Zant's death since he was tied spiritually to Ganon and wouldn't die until he did.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was the other way around. Since Ganon was tied to Zant, his mortal form could remain until Zant was truly dead. That's why Zant snapped his neck.

It's pretty odd Nintendo didn't make the ending more clear.

Then wouldn't it have made sense that Zant would have died to kill Ganon, im pretty sure the sword through him did him in, and the snap was just the tie between Ganon and Zant breaking, letting both of them finally be defeated.

That's how I saw it.

Hey Devs, you should know better. I mean look at your avatar. Bowser! Now try and remember *ANY* mario game (or even Luigi) that does not have the badass Koopa King as true final boss...

But still a Mario game (in America anyways).

The way I take it, Link killed Ganondorf, who was tied with Zant. Zant died due to Ganondorf's death.
Although, the other way around is convincing too..

As for the whole final boss thing, I agree with Devs. Ganondorf really shouldn't have been the *final* boss. He did so little in this game, other than giving Zant power.

I wanted the final fight to be Shadow Link or something <_<

This could just be me, but the large "scar" that Ganondorf had on his chest was a clue. When Zant cracked his neck, the scar had disappeared, leaving the Master Sword in Ganondorf.

My theory is that Ganondorf gave Zant power in exchange for Zant enabling Ganondorf to revert to human somehow. Zant was angry about Link defeating him (defeating the power Ganondorf gave him) and waited for Link to weaken Ganondorf greatly (When Link "finished" him). The Triforce on Ganondorf's hand disappeared, which was Zant's cue to finish him. The cracking of Zant's neck was symbolic, showing that he had power over Ganondorf the whole time, and ended up ending Ganondorf's life.

This raises the question of where it fits in the Zelda Timeline, at least in my mind:
It is after OoT, because the developers said it was. However, is it before or after WW? My understanding is that it would have to be after, due to the fact that it seems like Ganondorf was finally defeated once and for all, which would put it last in the Timeline.

I'm probably way off, but that's the way I see it.

Well I finally finished it today and I took it as Zant killed Ganon. Zant did the neck snaping thing and THEN Ganon died and his eyes shut, Ganon didn't die first and then Zants neck break.  Ganon was giving the shadow peeps a verbal beat down the whole time and I suppose Zant took exception to this and ended Ganons human form once the Triforce on Ganons hand flashed and went away. And it just reassured in my mind that Zant should have been the major final villain in the game not Ganon. Zant > Ganon.

Super Mario RPG:  Legend of the Seven Stars

True, you do fight him as the very first fight of the game, which sets the plot in motion.  However, after that, it's all about Smithy, who's taken over Bowser's castle.  In fact, you actually team up with Bowser about halfway through the game in order to defeat Smithy.
