Been a very looong time since I was running with the PSP scene. I used to have a 1.50, but no longer. I just picked up a PSP with 2.60 abd saw it was a "IC1003" TA-082 board. What is the best way to get emulation and ISO's running on it and what would be recommended?

Also... is there a good site or two to refer to for help and info?

you should probably downgrade it to 1.5, and then install custume firmware on it.  It has a built in iso/cso loader, and you can play your own back-ups of ps1 games after converting them to eboots with converters that are also available at the site mentioned above.

the best downgrader I think is the 3.03 one, but you will need a unpatched copy of GTA:LCS to use it.  GTA must have 2.0 update on it, not 2.6

Look at the Stickies, their tut's helped my friend a lot :) and Do what the above poster mentioned

Indeed your best choice would be the downgrade then upgrade to one of Dark Alex's firmwares. 3.03 OE-C would be best if you want a custom scheme etc. on it.

OK. So I upgraded to 2.80 and then used the 2.80 TA82 downgrader to 1.50. Now I can play homebrew and emulators. What about the most current games. What is next?

erm... you would upgrade to 3.03 OE-C, i hear 3.10 OE is kind of buggy...

brother i am confused say for instance i goto the electronics shop right now, and buy a brand new psp right of the self. occurding to maxconsole if i have mother board TA-082 i can not downgrade the firmware ? is this correct?

this is wat the firmware faq said
Q: What is a TA-082/TA-086 PSP?
A: A PSP with a new motherboard that will not run the 1.5 Firmware bootstrap without special modifications.

but then later it says this
Q: My PSP is a TA-082/TA-086 with the 2.71 (or lower) firmware, can I run homebrew?
A: Yes, 2.5-2.6 can use eloader via the GTA gamesave exploit or via the TIFF exploit. 2.71 can run 2.x homebrew via HEN C or eloader (2.71 version). You can also downgrade to 1.5 or install one of the custom firmwares to run homebrew.

Q: My PSP is a TA-082 with the 2.71 (or lower) firmware, can I run backup games (ISO)?
A: Yes, there are three ways to do this. The first two would be to downgrade or install one of the custom firmwares. The other methoid is if you have the 2.71 firmware installed, then you can use a modified version of DevHook made by Dark_AleX that works with 2.71.

i mean i cant exatcly walk into a store and go hey wat firmware is it running can i ?
and is there away to downgrade new psp's

TA-082/TA-086 motherboards not being downgradable is old news.  the highest firmware that has a working downgrader at the moment is 3.03.  which you will need that GTA game that came out, the first one, and it must be a copy of it with a 2.0 update.  If it has 2.6 update it is not usable.  an exploit in gta game allows for downgrader to be run.
