No you need one that will program a PIC 12F629-I/P as thats the pic the WiiFree uses.

I got my WiiKey installed on Saturday by some guy (Who wouldn't stop trying to sell me the WiiFree. After he tested my WiiKey, he kept saying "Oh you should of gotten my chip it's better etc), but I'm happy with the WiiKey. I got 3 games burnt so far, and they all work perfectly. (Godfather, Cooking Mama, and Bust-a-Move Bash!)

I'd say go with the WiiKey for sure.

Ya be careful of people pushing the Wiifree that hard. It only cost about .55 cents to make and some will want to sell it for $30 bucks, lol.

Hows the warranty on the wii? is it a sticker?

DeVS

Nothing, no stickers or anything like the XboX 360.

so that means that if the wii breaks and i remove the modchip and send the wii in for repair, nintendo wont be able to figure out its been modded before?

DeVS

Can't say 100% for sure but I suppose so.

That's not EXACTLY true.  There are several screws that require the removal of annoying little white stickers to get acces to them.  These are really cheap and easily "distort" when you remove them (even if you're careful).

Trust me - I could tell you by looking at any Wii if it's been modded or not - and if I can, surely Nintendo could too.  Not to mention there would be other tell-tale signs like a little solder left on the pad, the white drive cable not being tucked properly in during reassembly.  Even the tri-wing SCREWS feel different to me coming out the second time than the first.

That being said - I understand Nintendo hasn't turned away warranty work on failed-modded Wiis - so that's something you can breathe a little easier on.

Im not quite sure what that means. Could you explain it in a simpler way?

uzumakishade

he's saying even if you have modded it, but you screwed up the mod and send it in, the will still fix it for you

Thanks for the translation. :)

Not to say what you're saying is false, do you have sources in which this has happened?

I know there are times which nintendo refuses to repair the product and sends it back to you.
