I think you need a slot 1 device (R4, m3 Simply, DS One etc.) as well as a slot two solution. But if ther is a way do use GBA union without a slot 1 device, I too would like to know, as I have an SC lite as well.

well theres no point until you beat diamond/pearl if your plan is to trade pokemon because you cant trade your gba pkmn until you beat the elite four and get the national dex in pkmn diamond/pearl and when you do transfer pkmn from your gba games to diamond/pearl you lose that pkmn in the gba games meaning you cant trade it back

That's just ridiculous! What maniac came up with that?
Actually, what maniac decided to not put the slightest bit of effort into enhancing the game's world after all these years?

Err, sorry, couldn't control myself.

Imo, it would work with a combination of any slot one solution and the original game/some slot solutions that allow direct rom booting (acting like an original card) such as the ezf 1-3 and the 3in1 thing.

There was talk a few months ago about people getting it to work with a Slot2 SuperCard (such as the SuperCard Lite).  The method they suggested is below:

QuoteTo answer your question about GBA Union (the Pokemon thing you asked about), some people have had it work, some people haven't. Right now it's hard to test, as you have to use a Japanese R/S/E/FR/LG save on a Japanese version of Diamond/Pearl. When the U.S. versions come out April 22, we'll see it tested much more.

If you would like to try it out in the Japanese versions, this is how it works from what I gather:

[I am using Pokemon Diamond (PD.nds) and Pokemon Emerald (PE.gba) as examples here; any DS Pokemon game can match with any GBA Pokemon game.]

1) When you patch Pokemon Diamond (PD.nds) with the SuperCard software, be sure to enable "GBA Union".

2) Now patch Emerald as normal through the SuperCard software.

3) You should now have a the following five files: PD.nds.dsq, PD.sav, PE.gba, PE.sav, and PE.sci.

4) Now rename PE.gba to PD.gba (making the GBA game name match that of the DS game, but don't rename the .sav files).

5) This is where it gets iffy. Some people say have a folder (called "Pokemon Diamond" for example) with JUST those files in it and it should work. Others say you must have nothing else at all on your SuperCard Lite (or whatnot) to make it work. You'll have to try it out for yourself.

6) After running Pokemon Diamond, it should recognize that you have Pokemon Emerald in your GBA-slot (this will enable certain Pokemon to be caught in the wild, depending on what version you have; see here). And when you go to Pal Park, Pokemon Diamond should also be able to recognize that you have your saved Pokemon from Emerald (Pal Park is the place you go to that allows you to "catch" your Pokemon from previous save files you have).

That's what I gather at least. If someone can correct that procedure, please do. I haven't seen anything well published about it, nor have I see a procedure that many people confirm to work. But I'm sure when the games come out in the U.S. (as they will, without a doubt, be the most popular games for the DS) there will be a clear, widely tested, and widely confirmed method. I'll be one of the people waiting for that.

I have yet to try this, as I haven't beaten the game.  When I do I will try this right away and post my findings on this site.

I was able to get to Pal Park unlocked, and did a variety tests to see if I could get GBA Union to work.  I had no luck.  I tried a lot of different things (basically the method I listed above, also trying a variety of patch options on the DS game, along with trying to patch and not patch the GBA game), and had no luck.  Every time the game would load, then stay at the white screen of death.  The only thing I didn't try was taking everything off the DS but the necessary files, as I don't think that will make a difference.  When I did patch Pokemon Pearl with GBA Union, it did load the GBA game also (or at least showed it loading).  So I've just come to the conclusion that the SuperCard patcher can't handle it yet, which is what most people thought.  Maybe it will get patched so Pal Park will work, seeing as the new Pokemon games will be huge (and already are) for the DS.  The "GBA Union" option wasn't fully complete to my knowledge, as very little games use it.  But maybe Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will press for a working GBA Union patch (either by the SuperCard team or fans).

I've never played a game where the DS game read the saved data from a GBA cart before...

I've gotten the features that are made available by plugging in the correct GBA cart, but nothing that related to my save game on the GBA cart.

I'm guessing the GBA union doesn't take the .SAV data into account when it works its magic.

uzumakishade: Reckon you could add some punctuation to your posts? It's nothing personal, they're very difficult to read without, you know, sentences.
