I'm sure most of you have read this by now, but just in case, Shonen Jump magazine has printed screenshots of a 3D FF4 remake for DS. Go have a look at ds-scene to see the shots.

Thoughts? I think 4 is a much better game to remake than III was, with the time-based combat and actual story. Perhaps we'll see 5/6 remade as well?

I'm real surprised by this, considering they all just got GBA re-releases, but in my mind it's definately a good thing  Here's hoping for a chrono trigger remake too

Not sure I like the character designs in 3d like that. The enlarge head works alot better in 2d imo.
But then I like my RGP's old school and flat.

Can't say I'm really suprised as Square-Enix probably makes a fortune with every re-release/remake on every format.

I think the heads could use a little shrinking too, but I'm still thrilled by the idea of 3D FF4.  I for one loved the graphics in FF3 DS, they had a nice understated feel.

I disagree. The only good non-FF thing Square ever did was Chrono Trigger. Maybe Mario RPG I suppose. I for one would much rather see classic FFs reborn than put up with more crap like FF10/11/12 and junk spinoffs like Chocobo Tales and RW.

Well,
yeah FF10/11/12 werent the best of the franchise.
But I'd rather get excited by a new Final Fantasy that surpasses Vi (my fav) than see a rehash of older Final Fantasy's on yet another console...

I'm pretty excited about the FFIV remake though.  I like Cecil.  good character
