Warhawk is definitely a great war simulation game with a wide variety of vehicles and weapons available. The map levels are expansive and everything looks gorgeous both in the air and on the ground. The field of depth is such that you can see clearly for great distances during flight, yet on the ground and up close there is plenty of detail. There are lots of vehicles placed strategically throughout the levels and you can easily take control of them at any time. Transitioning from air to ground is quite seamless; you swoop down to low altitude and find a clearing, then activate hover mode to descend to the ground, then take foot and/or commandeer new vehicles. The combat system is well polished and the controls can be configured separately for flying, driving, and on foot combat. Personally I've never played the original Warhawk game so I cant make comparisons. I would say the game reminds me of a cross between Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament, with a hint of StarFox. Warhawk is fairly easy to pick up and play but there is a steep learning curve before you will be accomplished enough to engage in online battles without getting totally obliterated. Unfortunately there are no training modes, no bots, and no solo play.  If you want to practice then you will have to start a local multiplayer game and fly around by yourself, or play split screen with a friend. Mastering vehicle control is essential before playing online less you enjoy having your ass handed to you. I would say Warhawk is definitely a must own PS3 game especially if you enjoy the competition of online combat.

Picked this up the other day.  Damn fun game.  I was getting destroyed at first but now that i've caught on (in only a few sessions) I'm getting the controls and stuff and it's much more fun.  A lot of places say it has a steep learning curve, but it wasn't too bad.  I agree with the BF1942/UT/StarFox comparison.  It's really quick like UT, it's super addicting like BF, and the flying is really fun and easy.  I do tend to get taken out of the air pretty darn quickly... I need to learn how to avoid missile locks, etc.  All in all, well worth the $40 download.
