M3 just sped up ALL Sd-based models. Where's our update?

Don't believe the M3 hype. I tested two of my M3 units with v27a (latest) firmware...and the results:

Castlevania intro was still as slow and choppy as always. I am of course using a standard 2GB Sandisk miniSD....perhaps you need one of those X666 cards or something :)

Bottom line is that they stated "SD speed up for ALL users". Well, guess I am not included on that one :)

Fact of the matter is that the only device I have witnessed running the Castlevania intro at full speed perfection is the old Supercard CF version. I own a few of these as well, and they are great. Full speed perfect with just the average 2GB Sandisk CF. You may get better results on an SD version with a higher speed card (I am guessing SD media is not very good with streaming video/audio) but why? I am not willing to spend more just to get a stinkin' video (that has nothing to do with the gameplay) to run better on the miniSD. If I ever again have the urge to see it at full, I'll just boot it with the CF version :)

Its' interesting that youre not getting better sped with the new M3 firmware. Did you also repatch the ROM using the new software? That's also necessary (but its also kinda obvious so I'm guessing you did).

Of course I did :) I tested on >two< miniSD models...both are the latest v3 units as well. Nope, still the same as it always was! Maybe a *hair* quicker...maybe....but all I notice is the choppy/slowdown/lag of that Castlevania intro. What I am saying is that if it is indeed faster, you'd have to have a very keen eye to discover the "faster" part.  :D

EDIT: Looks like I may have to try again. Seems the speed increase is only available with a Fat16 64k cluster formatted miniSD. Heh. Still, seems like alot of trouble for an intro :)

yes, I agree that seems a tedious and halfass solution. I wasn't aware of the necessity for a particular setting/format. Although easy to do, it means they really haven't done that much but a marginal tweak.

Still, I think we ought to be seeing some kind of update from Supercard soon, even if its just updating the patches for new releases.
