I ordered one of these mp4 w/ game player from this link http://www.onvon.com/game-player-pmp001-series-p-590.html?currency=USD

Has anyone ever tried one of these?  I guess they have built in emulators.  Seems like something pretty cool to mess with as you can play video, games, and hook up to tv for viewing and recording.  Plus a camera for pics and videos.

Any feedback on these gadgets?

i have a camera/game/mp3 player unfortunately it only plays nes and sms some supposedly play snes but i havent seen any

Yeah, I got mine and only messed with it a little while.  It came with a disk with 100+ nes games.  It also had 19 .bin file games by sunmedia/sunplus which are 32 bit.  The description when I bought said that it would play 8-32 bit nes games.  I have not tried any gba or snes files.  I think I use to have some of those in .bin format, maybe I could rename and try.  However, my portable hard drive quit powering up for some reason which is where I had my roms, so I will have to download some again and try when I am bored.  I kind of doubt they will work though.

This thing is pretty cool, but the main thing I don't like is that there is no external volume control.  You can control the volume internally when playing video and audio, but can not control the game volume.  The game volume is extremely loud, so you either put up with that or play with no volume.

When I get around to testing some more I will let you know.  At $60 it was not too bad of a risk I guess.

"Game function. Support 8-32bit NES format games to download"

That makes no sense at all.  The NES is 8 bit, period.  I'm guessing they've got an NES emulator but nothing beyond that.

If you're interested in NSF files at all (NES music rips), there's a roundabout way of getting some of them to run in a standard NES emulator.  Other than that I can't really offer much in the way of help here.

Yeah, I didn't think it made sense either, but was hoping it was just a bad chinese translation for all 8-32 bit Nintendo system games.  I still have not had time to play with putting gb/gba snes roms on it, but when I do I will report.

The nes music rips sounds kinda cool.  I may do some searching and research on that also someday when I am bored enough.  Thanks for the info.

Alright after playing with this thing I can report more on what it does.  It plays nes, gb, and gbc roms.  It also plays 32 bit sunplus/sunmedia games.  Only found 19 on the net, same that comes with the disk.

You can hook it up to your tv and play.  You can record off of your tv with it if hooked thru a receiver.  It has a camera and video camera recording.  It plays music and videos.  It has an fm radio that needs headphones hooked up to it for an antenna.  It has ebook, calender, etc.

It will not play snes, sms, or gba.  Could use an external volume control.  However, with that being said it is not a bad gadget for around $60 bucks.

hmmmmmm for a few  $ more I would of gone for a pre owned PSP/Slim and mod it ... you can do most of that stuff with the exception of radio although you can stream it via the net over wifi and although it doesn't record off your TV and does not have have a camera it can though however ...emulate a crap load more consoles lol .. but hey if your happy :)

How do u create an emulator?  :(

dantheman

Why did you revive a 5-month old thread for that?

Regardless, Googling for "how to make an emulator" should give you a few results.  It's a rather complicated affair, just as a warning.
