hi

i found a patch on this website

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www7.plala.or.jp/zap/download.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dunofficial%2Bmoonshell%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D

to patch moonshell 0.6 for sd card users.

i have translated the txt file as best i can, i dont think you need to do step 2 unless changing the language

It is nds binary feasibility moonshell0.6 on NintendoDS making use of SuperCardSD edition. *
Usage 1. It is included in the archive, "ChangeCodePage\chgimfs\imfs? ? ? Kb.nds "everything, being official, it is distributed," moonshell "please superscribe in the same file inside the folder which is developed.
2. Referring to "ChangeCodePage\codepage.txt" inside "the moonshell" folder, please draw up the nds binary for each one necessary CodePage. * When Japanese is used, executing "ChangeCodePage\cp932.bat"
3. It was drawn up to the route "of the moonshell" folder using the command below for "_BOOT_MP.nds", please connect "ndsmall.bin". At command prompt copy /b ndsmall.bin + _BOOT_MP.nds _BOOT_MP.ds.gba Or There is a route "of the moonshell" folder, because you think "WriteFiles_EXFS.bat", that with execution & 9x system OS error comes out in COPY command inside the above-mentioned batch file, superscribing the same batch file which is included in the archive, please use.
4. It was drawn up "_BOOT_MP.ds.gba" (or "_BOOT_MP_EXFS.ds.gba") in the SD card to copy, "nds" modifying the extension, please execute on NintendoDS. * Are to occur every damage, the production person and the original production person it does not owe the duty which is compensated altogether with using this software of note. As for the inquiry to the original production person regarding this software please be modest.

hope this is of help

Alex, check thist thread out (see my post about 4 down):

much simpler than you thought, I had compiled it a couple weeks ago and you dont need to muck about with those instructions from ndsbbs/chinese forums ;)  (I think the jist of the origional post you are quoting is to get kanji/japanese/chinese codepage into moonshell using the SD version hacked up by ZAP)

thanks mate, makes life a little simpler :)
do you know of anyway to get videos running at a smallish file size but decent enough quality?

No, not really - I was looking for a decent palm or similar decoder for mpeg to port over, but havent had much time to work on what I found so far. The DMV files are huge when converted, 80MB for a couple minutes...

so much for watching The Matrix on my DS...

You can use FilmPlay. it would probably be about 250 megabytes with that.

Have you tried talking to the pocket TV team? They made the pocket TV program for PDAs that uses a pretty good mpeg decoder. Not sure how different the code would be for ARM9 versus whichever ARM class processor most PDAs use.

more problems trying to recreate the API that is used in PalmOS, or more properly remove it.

here is what I was looking at so far:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

pocket divx would be great for DS... even though its not using the special version processor/coprocessors found in Palm, it does have 2 processors and the ARM9 should have better performance than the ARM7 in the older palms... so long as it doesnt have any special media opcodes and other wickedness....

as I said, havent had much time to look at it yet though :(

mplayer and ffdshow, well, ffdshow at any rate could be a real boon. Wonder if PS2's SMS project has some stuff that could be used on DS

Yeah, when I was in the Zodiac scene I got all happy when tcpmp was released. The first divx/xvid player for palm. And it worked great. I know they are considering the player for Symbian devices...why not the DS. That is really exactly what we need...
