I'm going to get myself a mario kart ds package for christmas. Silver one though they dont have nice red ones here...

And i want to get a supercard with it now which one is better cf or sd? Does cf have better read times? And if i have the new firmware on my ds can i just buy a passme 2 and use it together with my supercard?

cheers  :D

i prefer getting the CF version since it seems to have alot less compatibility issues with the roms, but i think that is also because i actually have a CF card, but the sd version would be nice if you didnt want to have anything sticking out,  And the DS will probably have about a 90% chance of it being compatiable with the old Passme/Wifime methods but other than that you should be looking into getting a passme2 as well, its not really the easiest thing to use the passme everytime to boot the NDS, because you will always have to load the SRAM first before booting to NDS mode with the PASSME2 so your best bet is to do it once and perform a flashme on your NDS.

If you get the red DS, it is a given that the firmware will be new. You will need a passme2, but if I were you I would use it to flash the firmware right off the bat. Using the passme2 to play games in conjunction with the SC is an annoyance when it comes to playing games (ie: writing sram, popping in the passme2, then quick off/on just to boot into DS mode)

Thanks for all the info now one more thing i don't really care if something sticks out of my ds aslong as the compatibilty is good. Is the compatibility between the sd and cf the same?

If you have new firmware, it's too much of a pain in the ass not to flash.

You have to do a bunch of cart-swapping every time you want to boot, if you don't flash.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

get the SD version of the supercard, the compatibility thing isnt a problem,a few games thats all...but 99.9% of them work, and it sticks out at the bottom about 1cm,where as the compact flash one is an accident waiting to happen.

I just got my Supercard SD and i have not yet seen any game i like not work on it! The movies play great except for when you put high quality! It skips a little... Music is great and most importatly the Emulators work great so the Sd to me is a better shoice.

Its a lot smaller... :)
