I thought that 2 different region carts could not multiplay with each other? Single cart play download works fine though.

I was playing Eur vs US Mario Kart last night with 2 carts so I'm not sure they're region locked for LAN style play. I do know that for eg you can't connect from US/Eur Animal Crossing to Jap Animal Crossing - maybe its decided on a game by game basis...
