Touch screen going wacky ?

I dont know what's going on with my DS but I'm experiencing weird things with my touch screen. I always use the official DS stylus and I dont have any screen protectors, I also tried calibrating the screen in the ds menu a couple of times.

I first noticed something strange happening with brain training. When I write a number on the screen it often mistakes if for another number. I was wondering why it would do that.

And lately I tried Winds, when I use the little paint program, if I write someting it oftens shows lines I never draw myself, some line appears magically, mostly pointing downwards.

So now I'm thinking either that's a problem with homebrew apps or there is really something wrong with my screen, wich would explain my problem with brain training.

Anyone experienced the same type of problem?

Brain Training is touchy (no pun intended) and it seems to prefer Japanese-style number entry. A lot of Japanese write the number "8" differently than we did back in the States, for example, starting in the middle or the bottom, rather than the top right. I've had it totally misread my numbers but it works perfectly for my wife (Japanese) ... She writes differently than I do, so that's probably why. Not just the final shape of the number matters - the order and direction of each stroke is just as (if not more) important than the final outcome.

Also, your second issue sounds exactly like what happens when you accidentally touch the screen with your hand or a finger while you're trying to write. Especially if you're using the official stylus, which is incredibly small and forces you to really contort your hand to get a decent grip, it is easy to accidentally touch the screen with one of your other fingers and not even realize it. Of course, almost 100% of the time the contact with the screen would be at the bottom, which would cause a line to be drawn downwards.

Hope this helps. I don't think (from what you've described) there's anything wrong with your DS ... ;)

The only time I notice this problem is on Pac-Pix.  I can't even pass the tutorial because sometimes when I go to draw Pac-Man he will not form no matter how perfectly I draw him.

Sometimes I clean my screen with some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.  Maybe that will help.  If not you will have a nice clean screen. :)

I'm not sure but I don't think that you are supposed to put chemicals on your screen.  there is a special cleaning solution for screens.  I think it is non-alcohol.
You should just use a cloth that is dampend with water

I've been using Windex for ages on all of my handheld screens. Works great, just be sure to dry it with a non abrasive cloth (do NOt use a tissue!)

Thanks for the advice, but I have'nt had any problems.

I have used a bottle of rubbing alcohol in my car's winshield washerfluid every winter instead of buying the exspensive nonfreezing fluid.  It makes the glass nice and clean and also melts frost.

I also use rubbing alcohol to clean the goo off of the discs from the rental store that won't bur, I mean play.

Well I guess it's just brain training that's touchy like maven said. And my problem with WinsDS is probably because it's homebrew and doesnt have good touch screen support. All the other touch screen games I played on beside brain training havent gave me any problems, so I guess my screen is fine. I hope they fix the US version brain training to be less touchy!
