I just got my supercard and superpass in the mail today, but im still waiting on my getting my SD card.
So today I slipped the supercard sd version into my DS to see if it would load or anything and the ds did not see that anything was in the GBA slot.

So my question is does the supercard have to have an SD card in the SD slot in order for it to load?

No, should have at least detected that the card was in the GBA slot. Then after that, the SC would tell you that it could not detect SD card. Make sure connects are clean.

WRONG!
with no sd card you will just get normal ds screen
in gba it will freeze on the gameboy logo
ilver DS>White DSLite>Black GBA Micro>SCSD>SCLite>DSLink>4GB Transcend sd>2GB Patriot sd>512 MB Sandisk microsd>1 GB Sandisk microsd

Yep. On the DS, it will report 'No Game Pack.'

I remember some previous firmware version would show two white screens.

I would wait until you get your SD card, if i remember rightly it does depend on which firmware you have on the SC Card.

Im pretty sure, when i placed a SC Card in with an older firmware than 160 it didnt show that there was a card in the slot, i think the SD Card is needed to complete the circuit.
Silver DS + FlashMe v5 + SC SD + 1GB
Silver DS + FlashMe v5 + R4DS + 1GB
Silver DS + FlashMe v5 + R4DS + 1GB

that was my suspicion that the SD card is needed to complete the circuit. But I hope that I dont need to update my SC firmware for my DS to see it. I have no way to do that since I do not know any else with a DS or GBA who could help me out.
