NDS game save problems with DSLite and SC-miniSD

I have a new DSlite and SC-miniSD and I'm having problems with losing my save games once I turn off my DS. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or if it's a problem with the SC, but maybe someone here can help.

What I do to save:
Play my game and save normally in game.
turn off NDS and turn it back on quickly then use the saver menu to back up the save to the SDcard, if I go back in to the game now the save is there, I can even go play another NDS game and I wont lose the save, but if I turn off the NDS for any length of time then I lose all my save games.

So anyone have any ideas? is it something I'm missing when I save? or do I have a dud SC?

Sounds like the battery in you SC mini is dead, or not working properly.

damn and I was really hoping it was something I was doing wrong.

do you know if its possible to change the battery inside the SC or am I going to have to send it back?

I'm not sure, I only have a SC sd.  But I also have an M3 sd slim, and what you mentioned is the same thing that happens when the M3 battery dies.   I haven't changed my battery yet, but I found online some where a guide to do it.  So I'm sure the SC mini's battery can be changed.  I thought I heard that it was rechargable?  I would just send it back, as depressing as it sounds, its for the best.  Because if you open it and run into problems, you might void your warranty.

You don't need to do the QPC method with DS games, they will either save direct to SD/CF or to a DS card in the DS slot ( depending on how you patch them ) basically by doing the QPC saver tab thing you're writing over your saves ;)  the battery only supports SRAM which isn't used at all in SC NDS saving AFAIK.

cheers

oh so it is me, I'll test out not writing over the save game and see how that goes  :)

thank you both very much for the help.

then how about this, my pokemon leaf and fire use to work perfectly and now i have to load the SC SD save files for them which should load up automatically. its not a big deal but it gets annoying, its like having to load up a realtime save file and its only for thsese two games only, i've try two patchers v2.541 and v2.53. Anybody with the same problem?
