... hi all...
i've read the faqs and i'm thinking that maybe i still don't get it.

i have a ds lite, a super key, a supercard lite with micro SD card formatted as FAT. i've downloaded a whole bunch of homebrew files (moonshell, dsorganize, dsmail, etc.) but i'm having really mixed success.

moonshell starts up fine, but i can't seem to do anything with it (i.e. i can't seem to navigate to locations where i save jpgs or mp3s

dsorganize doesn't start up at all -- either get a white screen or a note saying that i don't have the right type of card

ndsmail doesn't start up at all.

and another thing what's with all this firmware stuff... do i need to update firmware on my supercard lite? how do i do that? and this stuff about needing to "patch" moonshell -- eh?? (<http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scl.htm>)....

i've read the guides on various forums so maybe i'm missing something..... how do i get these things to work? or are they only ever going to work on certain combinations of cards/pass keys, etc. etc.??

Newer firmware and converting software (for commercial games) makes better compatability. Load the UPGRADE file onto your supercard and start it in GBA mode, it will auto update itself. When it's done, delete the UPGRADE file. Use the new converter software to patch ROMS that previously did not work.

Along with the Supercard Lite converter software (the first one) was a file called moomshell patcher. Running this file and selecting homebrews such as Moonshell, DSOrganize, and NDSMail patches them to work on the Supercard Lite.

thanks for getting back to me...

ok, so i did the upgrade as you said, started with a freshly formatted (FAT) microSD, then deleted the upgrade file. (i wasn't sure how to start "in GBA mode" but it seems to have done it anyway, at least i got the upgrade screen etc.

when you say "Use the new converter software to patch ROMS that previously did not work." -- does that mean the "SuperCard Lite (MicroSD) V2.55" software that is on their download page? i tried that and didn't have a whole lot of success. i tried both ways, patching files *after* they were onl my microSD and before transferring to the microSD, which way should it be?

finally when you say "Supercard Lite converter software" is that the same V2.55 software? because that didn't include a "moomshell patcher" though i googled and found a couple of chinese pages that mentioned it (with that spelling, is that correct, mooM?).

however, i tried reinstalling moonshell anyway, from original downloaded files and it now seems to work.

the supercard website does have a " MoonShell Reset for SC.nds" - is that the "moomshell patcher" --  which i opened from within my DS but it didn't seem to do anything, certainly didn't give me a way to patch DSorganize etc..

it would be great if you could give me a few pointers on how to get DS organize to work on this setup.

thanks so much for your time.

First off, moonshell isn't half as good as DSorganize... use that. Just dump the files onto your sd. Don't patch them. Never patch homebrew.
The moonshell reset thing allows you to return to the supercard menu from moonshell or dsorganize without having to hard reset (turn your ds off and on), allowing you to run the patched .nds.dsq files on the supercard. You just have to run the .nds file from inside moonshell or dsorganize.

Hope that helped.

*edit* I reread my post and it didn't seem clear enough... when you download dsorganize, just extract the whole thing into your sd card, then from the supercard menu, run dsorganize.sc.nds

That means you're patching it differently.  Check your settings before patching.  You want it to run and save from the Supercard, not the DS. :)

hi thespleen

thanks, that makes sense (about the reset)!
now about dsorganize, yes, i'd prefer to use it because moonshell is a bit awkward for me right now -- but i tried what you said about just unzipping the original dsorganize files onto my microSD but i'm still just getting a white screen.

analogman up top said "Along with the Supercard Lite converter software (the first one) was a file called moomshell patcher. Running this file and selecting homebrews such as Moonshell, DSOrganize, and NDSMail patches them to work on the Supercard Lite." -- but i didn't find anything called moomshell patcher, do i need to find that in order to get dsorganize to work?

ndsmail is kind of working now but doesn't find my network (already setup with a real game) so that might just be a network problem i'm having...

thanks so much for your help, i'm almost there!

edit: sorry, mods, i just noticed the sticky at the top of this forum asking not to post in this forum questions like this... please move if necessary.
