Back on topic, there is a downside: some homebrew may be incompatible with the SCLite since it uses different drivers (I think?).

That's my experience; I've gotten a lot of homebrew to run on my SCLite, but writing to the microSD--DSOrganize, DSFTP and suchlike--is a different story, as data corruption happens a good portion of the time.
