Using the SuperCard's built-in emulators, how can I save?

I made 64KB save files for them all (.nes, .gb, .gbc) and can save in none of them. Is this just me?

QuoteOnce you are sure the game has been saved internally, to the SuperCard SRAM, you’ll need to press Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Select, and A buttons simultaneously to finalize the save.

Oh! Thank you. I missed this part.

I find that I have to go to the emulator menu screen (L+R) then exit again before committing the save to mem card via the button combo. Otherwise the sram doesn't seem to get updated, at least this seems the case with 'goomba' for the gb gbc roms
Yes I'm mad

With my mini-sd supercard, after making .sav files I only need to hit 'save state' on the l+r menu and the save is permanent. Never needed to use the L+R+Sel+A method. Perhaps something to do with the battery in this model, but I'm an idiot and this is pure speculation.

If I do that, my save disappears after having my GBA powered off for a while.

--------------

I'm using a Supercard mini SD with a GBA SP. Primarily, it's being used to play NES and Sega MS games using the stock emulators in the firmware.

I have used the 64k save template and have one for each .sms and .nes file that I'm using (e.g. Zelda.nes & Zelda.sav, Rastan.sms & Rastan.sav, etc.).

In Dr.SMS, I can save the game using the emulator's Select button menu and then dump the save to SD by hitting L+R+Select+A.

In PocketNES, I can save the game using the emulator's L+R menu but when I try to dump it to SD using L+R+Select+A, nothing happens. It does not dump the save to SD. All documentation I read says that all I have to do is hit L+R+Select+A.

I'm running the latest version of the firmware (1.63) and I can get this to work for all the Sega Master System games that I've tried but it seems to not want to work for NES games. What am I doing wrong?

The following is from the FAQ on eng.supercard.cn:
--------
Q: How to save FC/PCE/GB/SMS game?
A: 1. Copy a *.sav file (64k).

2. Rename *.sav to the same name as *.nes (such as Mario.nes, there should be a Mario.sav). Put the two files together.

3. Save in the Emulator.

4. Press Hot Key "L+R+A+SELECT" backup the save into CF/SD.
--------
This is the process I'm following. I'm using firmware 1.63 and it's not working. It works in Dr. SMS though! Any ideas?

Do you get the black save/load screen come up when you press L+R+Select+A ?
Yes I'm mad

In Dr.SMS yes... But in PocketNES, not at all. It just boots me out of the PocketNES menu (the one you access hitting L+R).

I downgraded to firmware to 1.62 and now I don't even need to use the button combos in PocketNES. It just retains the save... weird.
