QPC not working.

Hi there. I use my Supercard SD with a DS, and today I've tried the Final Fantasy V but due to the slowdowns I've disabled restart and real time save.

So, I check this QPC method but after saving the game and quickly restarting the DS, the game is not listed in flash, is listed normally, therefore no matter how many times I go to Saver and put the save to SD, when I try entering the game again it won't load the save.

I've checked with another game (Super mario advance) and it's the same.

BUT, if I patch the rom with restart enabled and after saving the game I hit the hotkey to restart the game this is listed in flash, and thus the QPC works. But with restart enabled there are serious slowdowns.  :|

I'm doing something wrong or not all games are compatible with QPC without restart. Thank you

Devil_Spawn

are you definitely turning it off then back on fast enough???

save patcher must be on

go to properties of the gba rom, and set 'enable save' to get a save file and 'save patcher' for the sram data to be modified to be compatable with SC (if it says 'fail', that just means it didn't need it)
Yes I'm mad

I activated both options and yes, it says failed.

Can't you just press L+R+Select+A, and save it in the middle of game time?  I thought real time save is only a save state, and you are able to save your normal save at anytime with L+R+Select+A

AnalogMan

The STILL requires the Restart patch which he seems reluctant to apply since it slows the game down.

Quick question:

Before this new firmware update, wasn't it possible to do a QPC save by saving normally and then quickly turning off/on your DS, navigating to the "saver" menu and selecting your .sav file?

It seems I can only do a QPC save by doing the hotkey restart--L+R+start+select--and then going to the saver menu to write the .sav to flash memory.

Did this change in this new firmware update?

Actually, Slowdowns is underexaggerated. The game is almost UNPLAYABLE unless you enjoy spending 2 minutes in a battle that is supposed to take 10 seconds top...

There must be some kind of problem with the Restart Patch and FFV. Without it (and using prefetch) the game is perfect, but with it its unplayable. I've never seen so much difference between applying restart patch and using prefetch.

Plz SC Team, at least make something to the software so the QPC technique works with this game. I've waited so much for it only to discover I can't play it?  :(

I'm having QPC problems in *all* previously patched GBA games (I haven't tried repatching yet).  I was tired of the slowdowns and trying to push the key combo for saving, so I've lately been doing just QPC because it's faster and easier to do.  However, I've tried at least 2 or 3 different games (Juka, Lego SWII) that I previously patched and previously worked with QPC save.  Now they don't.  If you are having problems with FFV, can somebody also just try some other GBA games such as these and see if they have the same problem with the latest firmware?

strells,

I have tried.  I am also unable to get QPC saves to work on my supercard Lite under firmware 1.7.  I have tried "Yoshi's Island" (gba) and "Scummvm ds" (ds homebrew that uses QPC saves).  Others on the scummvm forum have the same problem.

I also have a supercard SD with firmware 1.63 on which QPC works fine on these exact games.

Definitely seems like an issue with firmware 1.7
