Hi, new here, new to DS (got it only several days ago) and also new to all the rom/homebrew on DS.

Been into emulation for quite some time, so not total noob in that regard.

Now, been browsing the tinternet for some sort of modding to get me roms and homebrew running and see there is way too much to choose from. So some questions before i start forking out for stuff.

I have decided to settle down on SuperCard.
Supercard lite "normal" versus "rumble":
If i'm right "rumble" doesnt play GBA ? Is it true ?
(if true its no good for me. I badly need a fix of FFT Advance :D )

So, here is what i'm looking for now:
http://www.cheapmod.net/item--SuperCard-Lite-Black--supercardlitebk

And alternative (bundle with passcard3 ?):
http://www.model-gadget.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=714&osCsid=23fd5267248abe1053486f08e60448c7

Why such a difference in price ? Plus i in case of Supercard i will have to buy passcard, whatever that is (would like an explanation about that too)

So, M3+Passcard3 = 29.50 gbp and Supercard Lite alone = 37.99 gbp... No logic. For now at least.

In general a bit confused.

I'll just say what i want to do with DS maybe then someone could direct me right way ?
My expectations are SNES emulation, GBA and DS playable backups. No fancy linux loading stuff, dont care about that. Should take SD (micro ?) cards.

So. Any help for my imploding brain here ? :D Gah its confusing... Shoulda waited for Wii :D

Okay...

That m3 is the m3 pro. You need the M3 lite. The pro will only load gba files of 32 mbits. Very few gba games are that small... Final fantasy tactics advance is 128mbits. It's all really confusing, but they go with the cart size, rather than proper megabyte storage.

You need the higher priced m3 lite, which I'd recommend over supercard, as supercard has slowdown problems with GBA tha cannot be dealt with in a manner that does not ruin gameplay.

if your interested in a M3 you would be better of asking people in a M3 forum what there like http://m3-forum.com/

I'm asking this all over the tinternet... but thanks, thats one more place to go :D I usually seek advice from people who experienced more than the product the board endorses. One sided reviews are no good. Also purchasing decisions based on single sided reviews usually end in tears. :D Or money wastage at least...

Do i deserve immediate banination from this board now ? :D

Why would you be banned? But you realize this is a supercard forum. If you want expert advice on M3, this wont be the place. If you want honest and expert opinion on Supercard, here would be the place. Also you realize that most on the board find supercard to be the best choice for them, as they have bought it already.

Good luck with your choice and welcome to scdev!

That is the whole point in asking here "why not M3". Usually best thing (at least for me) is to ascertain what product is NOT, before what it IS. It sort of balances expectations. You make up a list of "bad's" of the competing products and then see whats left.

So, if you dont mind i'd like to hear (read? :D ) what is bad about M3. Well, maybe not bad, but but what is better in SC than M3 ? The same question i\ll ask in other forums also. Just for sport. And then maybe it will do me actual good in deciding which one to buy.

Been digging thru some youtube videos about M3 and now to be fair will do the same for SC, but its nice to get opinions in the forum. Maybe someone else will make something good out of this sort of comparison.

Thanks. Glad for not being baninated :D Its just i've been to several boards, where word ROM and <insert competing product name here> means instatnt baninization. Permanently. No fun at all...

no, there's no reason you would be banned, but this is not a discussion about supercard, so it doesn't really belong in the "supercard discussion" forum.

welcome to scdev.org!

I personally have m3lite and sclite.  I use the m3 for gba games, and the supercard for most DS stuff.  The supercard lite's speed is very good, and while some people may disagree, I find it actually superior on most DS games using a standard microSD card.

Hi

Okay, first, just know that the m3 is mean. (How DARE they insult and tell lies about the supercard on their website.) Second, no that the m3 is way less compatable with homebrew than the SC. The M3 is also way more expensive.

about 85% of all gba games on the supercard work fine. If there is a spicific gba game you want to play on the supercard check a capability list before you buy the supercard to see if it works.

Also, it's fine to talk about other flashcarts on this form even if you don't even mention the supercard's name. Just post it in the "other flashcards" section.

I've got the money for it - the only reason I haven't bought an M3 for improved compatibility in some cases is because of their bullsh*t advertizing and slander of other products.  Like, how long were they going on about how M3 has vastly superior battery life because it has an internal battery, when all that battery does is allow for RTC, a useless feature for anyone that doesn't play pokemon?  Or claiming that "competetor products" will wreck your DS or memory card?!  Their only real competetor for DS roms at the time was SC!

I've got a powerful spite complex or something.  Whenever a company does something like that, even if their product really is better in important ways, I still won't buy from them.

if your going for mostly gba games i and probably many others will recommend a m3 for you, if you want it for mostly ds games and dont mind a few slowdowns for certain gba games then get a supercard

I own both. Upside to the M3 is that GBA compatibility is darn near perfect, and NDS compatibility is pretty much exactly the same as the SC. Downside is the higher price, homebrew is less compatible than with the SC, and the menu is kind of clunky. The upside to the SC is that the menu is cut and dry simple and quick, DS and homebrew compatibility is very good, and it is cheaper. BUT, the SC is cheaper because of the not-so-great GBA compatibility.

Bottom line: Get an M3 if you want to play GBA and NDS games. Get a SC if you want to play NDS and homebrew stuff...and you want to save some money. Like I said, I personally own both, and they are both excellent cards. You really can't go wrong either way.
