Animal Crossing/Doubtusu no Mori performance in SCDS

Well, its pretty much unacceptable. I'm not writing this to knock the SCDS ... it's pretty awesome with just about everything I've tried but ACWW/Doubutsu no Mori. Some games such as Metroid Prime Pinball need the SD speed bumped up to 4x, and that's ok, but ACWW is just barely acceptable at the 4x setting. At the default 3x, its torture. This is using a Sandisk Ultra II, btw.

My wife is japanese and plays Doubutsu no Mori instead of ACWW. Unfortunately, on the 4x setting, the japanese game freezes just as the character is about to walk out of the house. This is the only game my wife plays so I'm stuck going back to the SCLite for now ... at least until I get another microSD.

How do I use the SCDS as a Superkey? If I get another microSD I can keep the Animal Crossing games on the SCLite and play the rest from SCDS.

Can you not flash your DS? Isn't the superkey just a pass-through device?

I haven't flashed my DS yet, and I'm not gonna start now. SC advertises the SCDS can be used as a Superkey ... all the Slot1 cards advertise this function ... I'm just asking how its done cuz I don't see it in any SC specs or instructions.

whats wrong with flashing your DS?
Sorry if I'm not understanding right.

Well hes saying that the SCDS should do what it advertises.

I am waiting for firmware updates. I like the SCDS, but like someone suggested in another thread, its release may have been premature. There's no excuse for this thing being slower than the SCLite, but it clearly is. I just hope SCteam can find some room for improvement.

Let me ask this ... unlikely though it may be .. is it possible that patching the games and playing in "Super Mode" may fix the slowdown problem?

It's possible... SC said that Super Mode is optional, but has better support, did they not? Really I have no idea though.

well I found out how the passthrough is done, at least for now ... find a rom of either Superkey or Passcard3 (yes, there really were releases of these, although theyve been useless till now) and run it in SCDS and it'll boot the Slot2.

I haven't been able to actually test this yet.

before I sent mine back i tried super mode, and it did not improve animal crossing..

I only found it acceptable with a 60x microsd formatted to FAT with 64k clusters.  it was fine with that.  still runs a little better on supercard lite though.

I'm sure supercard team will work things out.  They did an AMAZING job with supercard lite!  a cart that runs nds games directly from cheap generic NAND flash at full speed?  That's pretty awesome.

I think SCDS just needs time to mature.
