no it's not legal, and no you won't be able to share any games you've been downloading in the VC Store.

The downloads are locked on to your specific Wii and it won't sync/recognize your game serial on an other wii console.

so Nope ,forget it!

You didn't think it'd be that easy did you? The games are encrypted with a code specific to the individual Wii. At the end of the games there is an identification code that's unique to each Wii and you can change it to match your Wii, the problem is that the file is still encrypted and the Wii will say it's unable to read the file.

i see alright thx for the info guys  :D

That really sucks.  I am willing to buy off VC, but there are none of my favourite games yet!  Where is Zelda OOT?  Where is Super Smash Brothers?  Why is there only 1 game for N64?!

sneef

well, they can't release all the best games right now..

I'm sure during a "slow" period of wii game releases, we'll see some sought-after VC games released, to keep people interested in the console.

I'm sure sony was going to "pace themselves" with the ps1 releases for psp also, but thanks to firmware 3.02 OE-B, we're already playing the sought-after titles like FFVII, VIII, IX, and MGS.. :)

Hi

(sorry for acting like a fanboy in this post)

Well, seeing that nintendo is smarter than sony, I don't think that nintendo will be dumb enouph to "pace themselves." People don't like waiting!

it's not being dumb, it's being smart. you don't want to let all the games out at once, like someone said before, they'll probably wait until a slowdown in wii releases before coming out with the good VC games.

waiting is what get's people interested in stuff. the more anticipation there is the better it is for nintendo. in the long run customers need nintendo to make money for support to continue, just as much as nintendo needs customers. not that different then the flash cart scene for the ds. it's simple marketing strategy.

Yea it is smart, but it makes me angry.  ME WANT SUPER SMASH BROTHERS!

BTW, I don't even know how VC games work, I've been avoiding buying them, but I have been eyeing some games for awhile.  Do I have to get the classic controller, or can I use Gamecube controllers?  Or better yet, can I use the USB ports at the back to use PC controllers?  Or even better, use the Wii remote, turned sideways?

Koji

It says before you download them which you need. You'll never NEED a classic controller, but many games are designed with the classic controller in mind.

That said, NES, TG-16, and most (if not all) Genesis games work just the Wiimote turned sideways. SNES and N64 games require the classic controller or gamecube controller.

Currently the USB ports on the Wii are inactive. The OS doesn't even realize they exist, you can draw power from them, but there are no drivers for the USB on the Wii currently so it can't detect anything you plug in... which is a shame since I have a perfectly good adaptoid which would be awesome for N64 games.

PharaohsVizier

Jeez I'm such a noob when it comes to the Wii, but I REFUSE to read the manual.  LOL

Koji I've got an adaptoid too, but as nice as that would be I don't think it'll work even when/if the USB ports do go active, because the adaptoid still requires the installation of windows drivers to function (doesn't it?)

More than once I've given some thought to the idea of getting once more adaptoid and dropping a bargain PC (with good TV out compatibility) into a homemade case with a couple N64 ports on the front - instant NES/SNES/N64/Genesis/MAME/etc madness. I've never been silly-headed enough to think about the full-blown arcade cabs some build, but I think the homemade Ultimate Console would be nice.

In the meantime, I've bought a few VC games, and kicking back on my couch with a Wavebird and F-Zero or DKC is a blast. I've got a Japanese Wii and the catalog is much nicer so far.

:O! that would be awesome!! ssb ftw

for nes games u can use a sideways wiimote, and i think u can use gamecube on almost all the other games
