from the ninjads team...

Costello from gbatemp says:

"I talked to the NinjaDS team, with which I have good and friendly contacts, and they claim it is real. They will show me a demo of the modchip being used on a Wii, via webcam.

We *should* also receive a sample of the Wii modchip soon, it'll come with our microninja sample.
I still can't believe it.. but now I don't see the Ninja team making this whole thing up. So, congrats to them!"

I had been following this thread on gbatemp. looks interesting. anyone remember the site with the best wiinews?

Anyone who follows the scene knows the Ninja team is NOTRIOUS for making claims about having mods and then waiting till someone else releases the mod and some months later they release "their" mod that they had been working on,lol.

Examples are they claimed to have a GameCube mod way before a GameCube mod had came out. They waited till Viper and even Qoob released their GameCube mod chips and then amazingly a few months later Ninja released theirs.

Again on the DS, if everyone remembers ninja said they had a slot 1 mod cart waaay before anyone else had released one, then DS-Link and those 1 or 2 game passme's came out and then Ninja released there massive slot 1 mod that stuck out about 3 feet above the DS (hell even a FAKE Ninja team released a slot 1 mod before the "real" Ninja team) and just NOW are they finally getting ready to release their slot 1 that looks like the reset of the bunch (M3 Simply, Supercard DS, DS-Link).

So ya I believe Ninja will release a Wii mod chip, but I think they will do it about 6 months after someone else releases one first.

Hi

Bad ninja team. Remember what Mommy said? She told you not to lie.

There is video out now, which means nothing as we all know. Also it looks like the mod is a pic chip and if this is so how the hell can they get away with selling a pic chip for $50 (us) dollars, thats insane. IF this is legit it will take all of 2 mins after this is released to dump the hex off the pic chip and release it on the net so that anyone can flash their own pic chips with the code. Also since it seems to be just a simple pic chip and is region locked, does not run homebrew, ect does this mean it is just a dvd firmware mod like the XboX 360? If so it sucks thier wont be any homebrew but I guess it is also nice cause it seems likely that people will still be able to connect to Virtual Console and take channel updates.

yeah.. it's hard to say.  How do we know there isn't a second wii off-screen, and someone feeding original discs in at the same time as the cameraman is feeding "backups" into the visible wii?

I would like to believe its true, because I simply love making devices do things they weren't intended to do, but I am not getting my hopes up.

It DOES look like a PIC chip, very very similar to a PS1 modchip I have.. hehe

Well I hope it is real, I mean, this morning when I read it, I was like, OMG my prayers have been answered!  But then I saw the ad for NinjaDS on their site and I was like...  Awwww.

I really hope its real, but even if it is I'm not buying it, I'll just wait for some company to make their own version, the Ninja team really sucks.

The part about reflashing my Viper to work on my Wii would be bad ass!

I think the mod chip for a few cents each caught my attention more...  lol

But still, this is awesome!  I have so many more options now!

I'm waiting to get a modchip. I'm hoping the qoob team will do something cool. Ninja cannot be upgraded so all it would take is a Nintendo update to have it quit working. Plus it's not region free. Meh, not worth it.

Who says the Ninja one (which at this moment there is not one) wont be able to be reprogrammed with a pic programmer?

Good point... someone posted about that at MaxConsole and I assumed that he was right, because of how small it is. I really don't think it will be.

the initial link that ratx provided (to a european retailer future-online.com) is who said it is not flashable.  It says "modchip not upgradeable", which I assume means "not reprogrammable"

sinkhead

Still, I'm waiting for some smart person to start selling these for £10 once the code is reverse-engineered...
