Hey! So my ds lite's "L" button is broken. i dont have a tri wing as of yet but if anyone has any idea as to whats wrong please help.

Thanks

Hi

You could send it into nintendo for a replacement rather than open it yourself. It's safer.

If you have flashme installed, just use noflashmelite

Ah, for that would I need a receipt? Or should I just contact Nintendo.

Hi

You won't need anything but the # on the back of your nds. That's the same thing as a receipt essentially.

Basically, yes.  From my understanding, the DS box has a hole in the back so that the cashier can scan the number when you buy it, so it automatically gets registered with Nintendo the day you buy it.  You then have a 1-year warranty where you can send it in and get it fixed or replaced for free.

Ah okay. sounds good. now i gotta check if i still go the 1 year warranty.

I think the official Nintendo website has a box you can enter your serial number in to check if your warranty is still valid.  I remember it was a pain in the butt to find though, so I can't provide an exact link, sorry.

I found the link, checked the warranty and it seems im still available for the coverage! Woot! started the process waiting on the prepaid shipping label. thanks for the help guys

I want to take this opportunity to point out that for each warranty replacement you get another 1 year warranty I actually asked nintendo about this and confirmed it.

wow, i like nintendo more now.

Hi

Nintendo's real nice when it comes to this stuff. When I spilled water on my phat and broke it I called nintendo. They made me pay for a new one because my warrenty had expired.

But from the way they talked about stuff, it sounded as if had my warrenty not expired they would have given me a new nds for free. But, spilling water on your nds is NOT covered by warrenty. They were just nice!

Not to mention the fact that although I DID have to pay for a new nds, I only had to pay $80 compared to the $100 a nds cost at the time. (Does it still cost that much or has the price gone down?)

Anyway, nintendo said it cost $80 rather than $100 because they didn't have to send me a  new charger. But chargers don't cost $20.

See why I say Nintendo's nice.

Yet, I still pirate nds games. No matter how nice Nintendo is, I've bought many many nds games in the past and therefor given nintendo enouph of my money.

Not sure where you got a DS for $100, but the MSRP is still $130 for new DSs as far as I know.

Hi

I didn't get my nds for $100. that was an estimate that I was sure was correct. But come to think of it, I don't know where. I bought mine for about $140 (as in, the one that got water spilled on it) but that was only a few months after the thing came out.
