I applied this new firmware on my Express Card, and it´s working fine, running homebrew easily now ! I also did the FULL FORMAT, and it took about 30 minutes, cause my XP Card is 16G and it checks/fix bad blocks (if it exists).

h8uthemost

What exactly is Full Format? I really don't understand it. How is it different from the usual way of formatting.
Setup:
White Lite
Slot 1: CycloDSx2GB Kingston Japan, Supercard DSOne+1GB Nokia(J), 16G G6 DS Real, 16G DS-Linker, R4x1GB Kingston(J),
Slot 2: G6 Lite
PSP: 3.40 OE-A

Full format formats the device completely and doesn't leave the system folder. It also checks for bad sectors, etc...

This update sucks! I have found over 5 games that no longer work. Brain Age doesn't work, Bionicle, which are both big titles. The skin feature seems to be gone as does the save system. So hmm, they went backwards not forward IMO. Still no DLDI (without firmware swap) and where are the cheats?! Instant write to memory saves?! Not to mention the new GUI looks ugly as hell. The new update system will give many users trouble as, even I had to read it a few times before I figured out what the hell they wanted me to do.

And BTW auto patching DLDI is a given as it says it in the global.ini file. You can enable the auto-patching DLDI as well as enable/disable write support.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that many of my saves were corrupted when using this new firmware. Even when I copy over an old backup they refuse to play.

Get out of here you troll. Brain Age and Bionicle work for me. The save system before was stupid. And the menu is much, much better right now. As for skinning. This is a beta version. Learn your facts before you troll.

It suppose to do that unless you use the first format, not the full format.

Name the games, Because both of those games work perfectly for me.

The DLDI has automatic patching. You don't need to patch, you just put the homebrew on there normally and it automatically patches.

and where are the cheats?! Instant write to memory saves?! Not to mention the new GUI looks ugly as hell.
The GUI is much better then the last. You must be using another firmware... its probably one of the best looking ones in all of the flash carts.

Well things like that happen when you aren't very smart.

Why are you complaining about this? This is contradicting your other statement.

Works perfectly for me and others. Therefore you are just trolling or have a bad cart. Probably a little of both.

Get your facts straight.

First thing I tested were the saves that I made in last firmware, and it worked 100% well. And these games Brain Age and Bionicle Heroes are working normally, as they were in last firmware. Think you should review your card files there...

Seriously, thank you for the info on the full format. But really, you're whining just a little bit too much. Kind of reminds me of my niece.

Anyways, no, every game works on this cart. If it's not working for you,  download it from somewhere else. Or just re-download it. It may have gotten corrupted. I had to do this with EBA. I just deleted the game, downloaded it from somewhere else, and boom, plays flawlessly again. And ALL my saves from the last firmware, work with this new one. I went through and checked all the games I had a save with.

And that six save system, I guess, was flawed anyway. A ton of people complained about it. I never experienced the problems personally, but I never used the other save slots anyways.

And yes, not being to skin does suck. But hopefully they'll implement again on the next release. I think they just rushed the firmware out, just to be the first ones with the first stable release.

But in my eyes, not being able to skin is a very small price to pay to have full automatic DLDI support. And the new GUI is not ugly. The old GUI was kind of ugly. This new one, is a HUGE step up.

But really, if you're not liking this cart that much, by an R4, or any other slot 1. Stop your whining, troll.

Sorry for being very negative in my last post but I lost a few saves that had a lot of time and effort put into them. Any this update is not as bad as I originally though, although the lost saves are still the pits.

#1 I'm not a troll, as you don't even know who I am, and if I told you you probably wouldn't believe me anyway.

But the great additions were Auto DLDI and write support, although they did remove some of the great features.

The negatives are no more skinning, multiple saves gone, ugly GUI, and no cheat system.

The save system indeed was flawed but that doesn't mean a total removal. They should have tried to implement a fix or another method of save managing.

Currently the DSLinker is probably holding the best N-Card clone software as of this date.

h8uthemost

Well, these clones have never had a cheat system. But I personally don't think this is a big deal. I don't really use the cheats on my R4. The only one that really comes in handy, is the save anywhere cheat for FFIII.

And yes, no skinning for this firmware does suck. And I went back through the download, and I don't see anyway to skin it right now. But I asked about it on the DS-Linker forums, so hopefully they'll bring this back in the next firmware.

Really, the only negative that I can see of this cart, is the lack of Soft Reset. Once this cart gets that feature, and maybe an AR cheat function(since this is one of the most requested features), then it will be just as good as the current top of the line slot 1's. If not better.

And for the troll comment, I apologize. This is just how you were making yourself sound.

Hey h8uthemost, could you please post here the link to DS-Linker forums ? Thanks in advance.

Here ya go bud:

http://forum.dslinker.com/

They just added it yesterday or the day before since I knew it wasn't there before.

h8uthemost

^ Yep, that's it.

It's not very lively though. And I haven't seen any devs or admins post it in yet.

OMG... this firmware is a godsend!   I was getting pretty tired of the sluggish menu before, and was starting to use my G6Lite instead, but now, I'm back to using my Express card 16Gb all the time..

zombielove

The new DS Linker firmware sounds good. I'm just wondering if there are any advantages to using any of the other cards' firmware?

Is there anything that you can do with any of the other clones' firmware that can't be done with DS Linker 139's?

h8uthemost

The only thing that I have found, is that the N-Card's firmware still lets you put your saves in a separate directory(like you could in the last firmware), since that option is written into the globalconfig file.

So, I think that is the only advantage that it has over the DS-Linkers firmware. I'm sure the DS-Linker team will implement this in the next firmware's release. At least I hope they do.
