Data Verify Error - SC 1.8 firmware

Havin' a bit of a strange error coming up whenever I try to update to 1.8..

To be exact, it'll ask to update, begin a data verification, and get an error there..  "Data verify error!  Please turn off GBA."

Before yall start in on it, it's a real mini-SD SC, not a fake, and it's had no issues with past updates [albeit, they were .bin's, not .scu's].  It is currently updated to 1.7 firmware, straight from their site as of.. Iunno.. 10 minutes ago? [reupdated it, in hopes that maybe I had some older version of 1.7 or something.]  The mini-sd is a 1 GB mini-SD sandisk.  The DS, though I doubt it should matter, is a plain DS Phat.. I can't honestly remember the version of the firmware on the DS itself, though it's the yellow screens [4th or 5th version, I think?].

I've tried emptying out the mini-sd, as well as both the download from the english and chinese sites.. Both have the same error.

Edit: Also worth noting, though completely unrelated, the patcher works, provided that the cheat function is disabled.  Enabled it white screens [which makes sense, given that the 1.7 firmware has no clue how to read it].
Karma is like a bank.. You deposit good fortune into it, and withdraw it when needed.. If you never withdraw it, the bank keeps it...
Unless otherwise stated, I use miniSD: Restart: Off; Trim: On; Faster Play: On; DMA: Off; Patch: High; Cheat: Off

Did you try formatting the card?
Someone have the same problem on the official forum, and the admin said try plugging the card reader into a rear USB port, not the front ones. I don't know why it would matter, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Whelp.. I feel silly...  I had deleted everything off of the card, figuring that maybe it was having a conflict with something else, but that hadn't worked.  I had reformatted the card in the past, but not recently.. Don't really think there's too much of a different, but went ahead and reformatted it again just now, after all, there is the possibility of something lingering behind, yes?

Just for shits and giggles, also went with back port as you suggested.. Don't see how that would make any difference.

Either way, doing both and then trying it, worked.. I'm... not really sure how that one works, but thanks, as it worked now.  Still.. Hate that option, it's the typical tech support response.  "Wha? Your -insert thing here- isn't working? Reformat!"

as a rule when updating firmware I ALWAYS copy all my stuff to the computer format the card and add the firmware and then UPDATE then copy everything back to the card  :)

this way theres nothing on the card to interfere with UPGRADING  :)

and a format of a mem card once in a while is usually a good thing for it.... as you cannot DEFRAGMENT a memory card like you do with a hard drive ....as this often destroys them and makes them unusable :(

I guess I'm very lucking seeing as I used an 4 year old 512 MB SD card o update mine that droped out straight after it finished upgrading, Thankfully it did actually work so!

From the story above it could be you mini sd card, so if you have another one try that or buy a really cheap one test you supercard with it and if it worked then send it back to the shop, demand a refund and a voucher and then buy another 1 Gb or a 2Gb.
