Quote from: "HurricaneGame"What about Sandisk?

Stay away from those Sandicks, they lag bad.....at least the one I had did. Just grab a Kingston JPN to be safe.

Where are you able to get the kingston JPN model? This is a good topic, i was just looking at newegg for a 2g card and wondering which to buy.

I got the Micro SD (A-data) 2GB from newegg, and the thing can only go up to 2.5X.  It was rated to go faster than that and it's giving me freezing problems in castlevania because of that.
My Kingston 512MB (JPN) can go up to 5X and works perfectly, so I'd also like to know which of the 2GB models are really good, so far I cannot find a Kingston-Japan the one I found was a made in Taiwan, I read a couple bad reviews on it.
f you have aim as well, it would be easier to talk over the messenger.

Toshiba and Kingston are basically same Memory sticks .. just with different labels.. ( like R4 and M3 )

And it has the same problem with Taiwan and Japan diferences!!

Toshiba\Kingston Taiwan Sucks and Japan Rocks!

Something is wrong with yours sicne I can set mine up to 20+ in most games. Although the lowest I ever have to use is like 10. I am also using the SP1 update. And the SanDisk Ultra II 1GB (2GB is a fake) is the best card to use. There is a memory review click here.

Does the file system on the card have anything to do with it.  I tried setting the card to Automatic speed, then when the white screen came up, it said the card's too slow. Currently it's formatted in FAT32, should I try basic FAT?
Also, if that doesn't do anything, would a normal Sandisk 2GB micro be fast enough or a Kingston?

I also noticed on that link you had there's another version of the Adata micro SD called Super Micro SD and it has it printed on the card. My Micro SD doesn't have this "super" on it (probably the reason it's so slow).
Lastly I need 2GB of space, currently all my nds files take up over 1GB, and it's really no fun swapping out micro SD cards on this cartridge.

Yeah, file system can have a small effect, so to really test format to FAT with the lowest clusters you can do on your OS. How old is your A-DATA as the Super has been around for a while its just not listed on the devices only packaging. FAT usually always garners better results then FAT32 so you'll need to toy to find a right config. I suggest waiting a few days for the SanDisk Mobile Premier microSD 2GB which has performance of the SanDisk Ultra II series with a 2GB capacity. However the MSRP is $69.99 but IMO its well worth it.

Thanks for your help, I'm gonna go wait for that Sandisk card to come out, at least I'll know I'm spending money on something fast enough.

I wouldn't trust the SANDISK at all :!:
They are all manufactured in Taiwan (just as the inferior Kingstons!)
I bought the ULTRA II 2GB version which is supposed to read @10MB/s. However SCDSONE autodetects a speed of 5x only!
Needless to say that Castlevania, Animal Crossing etc. don't work!

The Kingston and PNY from Japan = rebadged TOSHIBA are said to have a read speed of approx. 8,5 MB/s "only" and they've run each game without any slowdowns so far!!
(Autospeed = 30x, speed manually set to 32 of 32x, no white screens!!)

I guess there's no 2GB microsd card at the moment that can compete with the 1GB TOSHIBA, KINGSTON, PNY from Japan.
They are really 1st choice and cheaper anyway. :D
So I recommend buying 2 of them instead of getting pissed off by any 2GB card!

Hi

According to gbatemp, sandisk can run castlevania POR with the only problem being some mere hickups at portals (or something like that)

I own a sandisk. I've never played any problem games, but I've played quite a few games and haven't had any problems. Why does everyone hate sandisk?

Lol, superzap, that is because you are a noob! There is no such thing as a SanDisk Ultra II 2GB! Many UK users have been scammed by this device that is mainly only for sale in that country. You can check any of the links for more info on the fake SD ULII 2GB.
