not sure if these have been posted before now but the DS XTREME was previously limited to a teeny weeny 512mb ... now boasts  a 2gb  model compete with the likes of R4 and M3 and SCDSONE with their changable mem cards :)

price is about £70 for the 2gb model  :)

apologies for the confusion  ...

POST EDITED to make corrections to information and thread title .....thanks for the input dantheman and tennisgy :)

I really need to take more time reading stuff when poaching information from other sources on the net to bring here lol  :)

Woo.  But how does the price compare?

Not that it matters, that USB connector and the lights and the color ruin the stealth factor I love so much.

sonicwind

120$ and 140$? that is REALLY high since the ds-linker and the likes came out and are around 80$ at most?

The title mixed me up.
You say "2GBIT and 4GBIT" when in reality its "2GBYTE and 4GBIT" .  Itd be simpler if they were the same format though like "512MBYTE 2GBYTE"

I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with the numbers, but they're a bit screwed up in both the title and description.  The DS-X already came in 4 Gbit format (512 Mbyte) and apparently now comes in 16 Gb (2 GB) format as well, meaning that there's only one new capacity, not two.

Oops that post wasnt really on topic.  I also wanted to just say that even though they claim people who want more memory will be satisfied I dont think they will.  The thing just costs too dam much :(

^ Yep. Plus, I've read quite a bit that the cart gets horrible support too. Take a look at their forums. You get shunned if you mention anything about a rom not working. And I'm still reading that Bleach 2nd isn't working(the people who have said this could be wrong though, and just not know how to operate a flash cart).

If it had better support under it, I might consider getting one. But as sonicwind mentioned, the cart is basically the same as the DS-Linker, but it costs almost twice as much.

Maybe if the cart ever gets down to around fifty bucks, then I'll get one.

Well, I have the 512MB version and it works pretty well. It doesn't take forever to copy new ROMs to the onboard memory like with DS-Linker. My son mostly uses it, and all of his favorite games work great.  The interface is pretty slick and everyone likes the multi-color disco light effect when playing MP3s. It's a good solid card now that DLDI is supported. (Although I prefer my SCDS1)

Besides the price the main problem with DS-X is support, and updates are far and few between. When updates are released there are often issues.  I'm still using an early OS version.  The DS-X team needs to stop talking crap and deliver on some of the hype and features they have promised in the past.
