The SCDeV irc chatroom is located on the efnet server and the room is called #scdev.org. Feel free to join us for any questions you may have or just chit chat. Same rules apply there as they do on the forums (ie don't come trolling for links to roms). For those who haven't used irc, there are a few ways to connect. If you use Firefox/Mozilla then the easiest way is to get the Firefox extension called "Chatzilla". You can grab it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=16 Once ChatZilla is properly installed, it can be started in any of the following ways...

    * Select IRC Chat from the Tasks menu.
    * Type in an irc: url in the url bar.
    * Start your browser with the -chat option.
    * Start your browser with the -chrome chrome://chatzilla/content option
    * Click on this url: irc://efnet/#scdev.org

If you don't use Firefox you can download a standalone irc program. The easiest/most popular is mIRC. mIRC can be found here: http://www.mirc.com/

Wouldent it be alot easier to use some free java chat or something?  One that I have used that is realy nice is  Parachat it has mods and everything or you could use Chatzy which isnt realy that nice because it doesnt have mods but it has history whic is realy nice so you can respond to questions later but that is kind of like a forum.  I dont realy mind irc chat but it takes so long to get it going, I know I would use the chat more if you use one that worked in a web browser.

For those of you who don't use IRC much, the concept is to idle in the channel and talking will happen eventually.  Only the largest IRC channels have people talking 24/7.

There is usually quite a bit of chatter between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.

That's a restriction imposed by Efnet.  There's nothing we can do about it unfortunately.
