I am torn between these two.  Here is a list of my personal pros and cons for each system.

PSP-
Pros-
-Easy to mod
-PS1 games (main reason for looking into the PSP)
-Great Emulators and Homebrew apps
Cons-
-No real games I want for it


Wii-
Pros-
-I have many friends with wiis
-I like them enough to justify spending 250 dollars
-Actual games I want.
cons-
-it'd be expensive because I wouldn't mod the wii until a soft mod comes out.
-Harder to mod as it involves soldering (which last time my dad soldered a mod, I got a nice PS1 brick)
-Online hasn't really kicked off yet

planning to buy one with mostly my money with some of parents on my birthday one month from now

If you buy a PSP you need to make sure you buy one you can flash. The older the installed firmware the better off you are. The newer you get the harder to flash it becomes until it is not possible(which it may or may not be right now I'm not sure).

Don't bet on a softmod ever coming out on the Wii. It might happen. It might not. If someone develops a 'real' modchip I can't see anyone else spending the time on a drive flash.

Overall I would go with the Wii because it clearly has a brighter future ahead of it than the PSP does.

i play ps1 games on my psp much more than I play anything on the wii..

but maybe that will change when some new games come out

Why not play ps1 games on your computer?

Actually, I know why not, because ps1 emulation on PC's doesn't have great capibility. Keep it in mind as an option though.

I had a ps1 emu, ran about 90% of games.  Also, i can't take the computer with me places lol

I got a wii for my birthday and I think it's the greatest. My opinion.

I am trying to buy it myself so I can't get both...I am still torn, but here is my idea so far.

If my bro goes to live at campus next year he will take the 360, and in that case I will get a wii.  If not the 360 is fine for console gaming, and I will buy a PSP.   It looks like he'll stay at home again this year because he missed an exam=F=low GPA=not as many scholarships

i have never found a game that doesnt work on either epsxe or psx
