I have an old SC CF and havent uploaded the newest firmware in a while. Im curious if the new firmware allows the SC CF to act as a slot 2 device and play nds homebrew in a flashed DS. Also, does the SC firmware update allow the SC to be inserted midstream without the whole DS rebooting? This would be useful for wrg dumping purposes if it doesnt reset.

SC CF has worked as a DS slot 2 device for ages, it was one of the first. yes with a flashed DS you can run homebrew, follow the instructions to the homebrew you want to run - most now use DLDI which you can download the SC CF version of and patch the file with - the idea of dldi is to allow homebrew to run on many cards without the developer writing multiple drivers for each card.

Not sure about the cart in & out I know it's ok to remove /change the cart if you boot from slot one but not sure about if you booted off slot 2 - I think it would crash.
