I thought you had to upgrade to 1.7 then to 1.8...

yes thats correct it even tells you on the supercard website you must do the updates in order 1.63 > 1.7 then 1.7 > 1.80 then 1.80 > 1.81  and if your using a rumble 1.81 >  1.82 :)

You do not need to go to from 1.7 to 1.8, you need to go from 1.7 to 1.81. In fact, for the SC SD or the sclite, you cannot even download 1.8 from the sc site, as it could not boot homebrew.

I did not find your statement on the SC site, it does not say to go to 1.7 then to 1.8 and then to 1.81.

It says this
Quote
History...

FIRMWARE: Firmware V1.81 (2007.06.05) Fixed homebrew can not be boot problem in v1.80

The statement you are refering to is in the history for 1.8 and 2.6. You must remember that this site is made by chinese persons where english is not there first language. And they do not usually update the history section. Instead they just removed 1.80 from the dl.

I have updated both my SC SD and SClite by going from 1.7 to 1.81 with NO issues. I also instructed weezer on our irc site to do the same and he said it worked like a charm with no issues.

What do you mean it doesn't say it, it's right there in black n white in your own quote....

quote "Important: Should be upgraded to 1.70 before upgrade to 1.80"

1.80 is only 300+kb size .scu file , this is because it upgrades 1.70->1.80 ,and it comes packed with the 2.60 package.

1.80 is a full size flash file (can't be bothered to look up the size but i think it's@ 600+kb size for sd/cf) and is a .bin file and full firmware upgrade.

Yes I'm mad

Q: Firmware 1.44 cannot be upgraded directly to the newest 1.63 version. How to do it?

A: It seems that you have to upgrade every firmware step by step (1.44 -> 1.5 -> 1.6 ->1.63)

:)

I agree with you that it is in my own post, but, i did say this right after the quote

QuoteThe statement you are refering to is in the history for 1.8 and 2.6.

Like i said in my previous post, they removed the 1.80 from the supercard site. Download and check the zip files, 1.80 no longer exists! Try it and find out for yourself.  NOW, all you need to update to 1.81 is have 1.7 installed and then go straight to 1.81. The info does apply you just have to be at 1.7.

If you doubt what i am saying, ask weezer on the irc site right now, as he followed my advice with much success.

Dingo

Actually.. I didn't bother to upgrade to 1.8 when it came out, as I was busy playing the actual cart for Pokemon Pearl and didn't need to upgrade just then. By the time I finally got around to it, 1.81 was already out. I tried searching everywhere for 1.8 so I could do 1.7 -> 1.8 -> 1.81, but I couldn't get 1.8 from the SC site and no one seemed to have a copy of it laying around. So I stopped by the IRC channel to ask there and was told I could go from 1.7 to 1.81 without any ill effects. I tried that and it worked fine, I haven't had a single problem.

You DO have to go from 1.63 -> 1.7 and on, but you don't have to get 1.8 to go from 1.7 -> 1.81..

Thank you Dingo (which i assume is weezer on irc) for proving my point.
