Some save questions

This might be some very stupid questions but oh well xD.

I recently played Pokemon Diamond and decided to remove it from my microsd to free up some room. I saved it's save file on my computer for another day. So today I put it back on the sd card, only renamed (First it still had the rom number, now just the name) and I renamed the .SAV file as well to match ith the .nds file. However, when I started the game there was no save file anymore =/

Fortunately I still had the "original" .SAV and .nds file and this gave no problem. So what am I doing wrong?

On another note, I read all kinds of issues with saver sizes etc. All my saves are 256k standard and that gives no problem. Question: Is it even necessary to change the saver size, or should I just keep my hands from it as long as it works? :P

Third and final question (might as well while we're at it). Somewhere in a topic I read something about the Save Saver screen you get at the beginning when you boot up and that this should NOT happen with the new firmware. I still get this but I don't see a problem with it. Can anyone explain what it does or is supposed to do?

Well the Pokemons have been know to have some kinda weird saving system lol. So I can't really help ya there. As far as the saver size, I ususally leave it alone if the game works fine. But if a game comes along that won't save correctly then you'll need to fiddle with the saver size.
