i wanted to know how the wifi games work like with the game codes and eveything. like if i give some1 my game code, if they wanna play with me does like an invite just pop up on my screen like on xbox or something? or do i have to know he wants to play and i have to try and connect to that person at the same time? how does this work?

You need to talk to the person using some other protocol (phone, IM, real life, etc) in order to exchange friend codes and play against each other.  Some games allow you to play with strangers as well, selecting random opponents who happen to be on at the same time.
