SCUMMVM DS saving help :(

Using an SCLite. I've tried using different DLDI patches, only the Lite got it to boot up. I can run the game (Sam and Max) fine, and I can even save fine, but after a couple of times of me saving the game it simply freezes. I've also tried the newest version, but that was even worse: it froze the first time I tried saving. Anybody get this to work for them using the same card as I am?
My Music

Nearly all of my songs are made with Fruity Loops, except for one where I used Reason. I recommend looking at my ambient stuff, and staying away from old songs, which are pretty crappy.

I haven't tried with Sam & Max, but I've gotten Monkey Island 1 & 2 to work and save properly. What I did, was download the latest version (which is a beta) that you can grab from here. Afterwards I took the scummvm-a.ds.gba file and without putting a zip file called scummdata-a.zip in the same directory, made a batch file to compile it properly. Command line as follows:

@copy /b scummvm-a.ds.gba+scummdata-a.zip scummvm-a-withdata.nds
@echo Done!
pause

then saved it as builddata-a.bat into the same directory as scumm-vm-a.ds.gba. Now, patch the new scummvm-a-withdata.nds with scmhbp and renamed it scummvm.sc.nds (although this makes no difference).  I applied the Supercard SD DLDI patch to it and placed it on my Supercard Lite in a folder called ScummVM DS. Now finally, copy the game's folder (eg. MONKEY1 and MONKEY2 taken directly from their CD) into the ScummVM DS folder and boot up the DS. By running ScummVM now, you just need to add a game like you would if you were running it on a computer, navigate to the game's directory, eg. MONKEY1, highlight the folder and click add.

If all goes well, you'll be saving properly in no time.

i have a problem. downloaded the latest version von ScummVM DS and patched it with DLDI (right-click). software works, games (not zipped) work until i save. when i try to save the game (type a name and push save-button on screen) i get black screen and can just turn off the DS. when i start everything again and go to the load-menue i see a "invalid savegame".

the readme file of ScummVM says "It has been reported that only the standard Supercard driver and the Moonshell version work with ScummVM DS." is there any chance to get this to work on the SCLite? is there a step by step tutorial?

*edit*... and what is the scmhbp and where can i get it?

OK, so I have the scummvm-a.ds.gba file, however I'm not sure exactly how to create a batch file. When I ran the builddata-a it would tell me I needed a zip, but you told me you didn't put a zip.

Yeah my bad, you put an empty zip archive into the folder where your batch file and scummvm-a.ds.gba will be. As for making a batch file, right-click and make a new text document, then make the file type .bat and you're done.

What the readme is saying is that only the standard Supercard and Supercard - Moonshell DLDI patches will work. Luckily these two, are usually compatible with the Supercard Lite anyway so there's no trouble.

Follow this link to download scmhbp.

hm... done everything and still black screen after saving.

Can you upload your patched ScummVM version (without games)?

*edit* where can i get/download the "moonshell patcher"?

After using your solution, I found it didn't work again, but after having trying out different saving methods, I got one to work. Basically I just have to rename the file every time I save. If I don't it freezes, and the file becomes corrupted. Thanks a lot for the help, now I can finally enjoy the game  ;D

Gah, started freezing again :( I guess it saves only when it feels like it. I've decided to give up and just play the game on the PC.

OK, click on this link to download my copy of ScummVM DS, and then extract the ScummVM DS folder to the root of your Supercard. Also, here's the link for the Moonshell DLDI version (at least, I think it's supposed to be Moonshell, the download just says moon.)

Brujagio, I suggest you try using my version as well; also try experimenting with some other games like Monkey Island 1 or Day of the Tentacle.

ok. thank you very much. i'll try it tomorrow because i forgot my micro-adapter at work.

*edit* so... tested it with several games (monkey island, indiana jones, zak) and your version works perfect. saving, loading is no problem.

P.S. i got another prepatched version for my SCLite and it had the same problem as my version.

brujagio

Well, unfortunately Sam and Max still doesn't work, but I'm gonna give Day of the Tentacle a go when I get the chance. Thanks for all the help :)
